'TIL YOU FOUND ME

I wrote this song for my wife celebrating our 5th year wedding anniversary. It’s a combination of lamenting and ‘happy tears’ through everything we’ve been through and overcome. 

After making new friends and gaining much engagement from my debut EP ‘Deeper Things’ I want to take listeners even deeper lyrically; I want them to know me more personally . 

This single will serve as a one of the precursors to my next album in November.

You ever accidentally ruin a gift somebody just got you? I ruined the first car my dad bought me when I first got my license (not that it was expensive) .  It's crazy how much we can actually learn when we handle with care.

I was 16 when I began learning to drive, around the same time my dad had got me my first car, a 1994 Nissan Altima.  WOO! About 6 months in, it had several dents and scratches.. it just looked gross.  I had also got into an accident..nothing life threatening, but it hurt my insurance and confidence. The revelation of this song was how that used car eventually taught me how to drive, despite the bumps and bruises along the way - and how in life God gives us more when we learn to be responsible with the little things.    It also taught me how much I appreciate and love my Dad.  Although he wasn't the most affectionate person, his heart was absolutely there.    

On a production standpoint, I wanted to make this an up-beat, fun, anthemic song, in the face of the deeper meaning behind it.  I'm a huge fan of pulsing chord progressions so I definitely wanted to kick the song off with something like that.   Most of my music backbone is hip-hop based, so you'll always notice the bass driven/ in your face drum kits driving my music.  Overall, with this record, I found that we can choose to self-deprecate or maybe even laugh at our past mistakes, I hope the latter!  Most importantly, I hope this song drives you.  :)
