    In this song I think David reflects on his lost youth and maybe regrets some of his 'party' times in the seventies. 
   A highly metaphorical song, questioning the glamour and glitz of the seventies which at times were shallow.  Bring me the disco king...I don't know about you? 
Recorded 3 times but only made it on to his 'Reality' album of 2003. 
Here is my interpretation of the song.

World In Crisis (No Planet B)

The basic lyrics and melody for this song came to me 31 years ago, two weeks after I had proposed to Ruth, the love of my life. Yes, that's her in the picture. I am so happy that, with my superb collaborators The Rayne and Andrea Patron, the song can at last be heard. I had forgotten about the song and rediscovered it while researching my new memoir "Saved By A Woman", the second book in my memoir series "Losing Religion, Finding Myself". The song's release on 20 October 2023 coincides with the publication of the new book. Thanks to my son John for the artwork and to Berna McColgan, who took the photo of Ruth.

A poem of consolation for the bereaved, nudging us to find the gift that each departed loved one has given us. All of us are leaves, and each of us will one day leave.
I wrote this in 2014 for the first annual commemoration ceremony of the Humanist Association of Ireland.

Stretching yourself out in the wait of hope is just around the corner

HOPE

A poetic reflection on the gifts that those who have died bestow to the bereaved, exhorting us to consider what we have learnt, what blessings we've received from the life and death of the deceased. It reminds us, too, that each of us will die: 'We are leaves, each of us leaves. By the time we realize it, it is already autumn and comrades have fallen.' 'We are leaves. Each of us leaves. Each fallen leaf has left a parting gift for us.'
