Where grows the scarlet pimpernel

Now the Carrick shore is a wild delight
Where the curlews call and the otters play
And the waves that cross and dance with light
Mark the tide across the bay

Eyebright grows there in the grass
Thrift and campion abound
And the little scarlet pimpernel
Spreads across the rocky ground

There we walked and there we talked
There we spoke of loss and love
The restless sea washed o'er our boots
And a gale blew rags of cloud above

I kissed her lips and held her hand
As we watched the autumn sun go down
And the dark'ning sky revealed the stars
Where the Milky Way, it wheeled around

We heard the sea move in the dark
As our hearts moved and beat as one
We listened to the restless waves
That caught the shimmer of the moon
