O Sertão nordestino apresenta as menores incidências de chuvas, isso em âmbito nacional. A restrita presença de chuva nessa área é causada basicamente pelo tipo de massa de ar aliado ao relevo, esse muitas vezes impede que massas de ar quentes e úmidas ajam sobre o local causando chuvas.
