In this installment of Sound we delve into the creative minds of stadium-filling electronic music act, Above & Beyond. This summer, Above & Beyond released ‘Bigger Than All Of Us,’ their first album as a trio in seven years. In this exclusive interview, two members of the group, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki, discuss their 25-year journey in electronic music, from becoming vocal trance’s most in-demand remixers to starting their labels Anjunabeats, Anjunadeep and Anjunachill. We explore collaboration, production, songwriting, remixing and working with vocals, and talk about the role that SoundCloud has played in creating their Anjuna community and inspiring new creative directions.

Dennis Sheperd unveils 'The Next Generation,' an album born from his mentoring ethos featuring 16 collaborations with his students and vocalists like Katty Heath, That Girl, and Sarah Ikumu. To celebrate the release, Dennis recorded a special live set in one of Bali’s lesser-seen gems, Kintamani. The mix is a journey through progressive house, melodic techno, and trance sounds, exploring his full album and presenting a love letter to nature, music, and stillness.

"I’ve taken a trip down memory lane for this mix, trying to deep dive into the trance history of the label concentrating on the 2000-2010 era. Tracks like Aalto 'Rush' I remember buying on vinyl in high school and putting them on a mix CD to give to my mates. I remember being shouted at in biology class for not listening because I was listening to OceanLab 'Clear Blue Water' on repeat.

Matt Hardwick used to be the Gatecrasher resident DJ and I really looked up to the guys playing these clubs every week and building warm up sets to get the night ready for the main trance DJs at the time. 'Nimbus' is also my favourite Oliver Smith track. All the other tracks I’ve owned and played, and this 60 mins mix is me trying to create a mosaic of the roots of this great label.
