I've just looked at a comment it doesn't get any better than this that was 11 y ago and that comment was right this was ahead of its time still got the tape in my loft I recorded all those years ago like tear drops in the rain but for some they continue to give memories of what once was as I sit here listening to this outstanding set once again Paul oakenfold was a  n outstanding Dj ahead of his time that's why this mix is still relevant ❤️🕊♥️🕊❤️👍

Heard this when it was first broadcast, we were on a comedown after a night out clubbing. it was a defining moment in dance music and made Psy-trance the bee's knee's for about 6 months.

I bought this on cassette in Goa and only realised years later it was a radio 1 session! Such a fantastic mix.

The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule, and is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.
