Cisco was originally meant to play for us in August 2021 but Covid put a stop to that; thankfully we were able to fulfil our goal of having him to play for us and it couldn't have gone any better in our honest opinion.

We are excited to present our next special guest in the mixtape series: the legendary Chris Liebing!
Chris Liebing has been a driving force in the techno scene for decades, creating a whole genre back in the 90s with hard, fast banging techno and continuing to push the limits of electronic music today, His infectious energy and friendly demeanor have made him a beloved figure in the industry, and his dedication to elevating other artists has helped the scene flourish

Growing up in the German town of Giessen, Liebing’s journey has taken him from a passion for early electronic music to opening a nightclub (“Spinclub”), working in the Eye Q record store and an acclaimed, lasting career in techno. Dedicating himself to a life of creating and sharing music, Liebing has pioneered the European techno scene whilst always staying true to himself.His DJ sets have forever been fast-paced and immersive, physical workouts, though in more recent years they have tended towards a deeper, hybrid approach of layering multiple recordings into something uniquely his. The track selection draws from an encyclopedic knowledge of the techno genre and its history; he interacts with the crowd, intermittently smiling and retreating deep into concentration. An extensive collaboration with DJ software developer Native Instruments has provided Chris tailor-made, DJ technology for himself, and his expertise has provided the same for DJs around the world. As well as club and festival performances, Chris has a weekly radio show called AM/FM; like his involvement in the NovaMute label, it’s one of many ways he stays ahead of the curve with new music.

CLR Podcast 310 – Simo Lorenz

It is Monday the 2nd of February 2015 and we are coming to the end of our little series of local heroes and faithful supporters of the Techno scene, this time with Simo Lorenz from Stuttgart´s distinguished Lehmann club. Simo loves to play extended, passionate DJ-sets, not only in his residency at the Lehmann, but also in numerous renowned national and international clubs. His digital DJ setup allows for a maximum of real time creativity and in the studio he is a prolific producer of original tracks and remixes, some of which appeared on labels such as Wall Music, Nachtstrom Schallplatten, Drowne Records or Illegal Alien, just to name a few. He furthermore co-founded the booking agency Blakksheep at the end of 2014, with artists like Alex Bau, Sam Paganini, Sasha Carassi, Luis Flores, Johannes Heil, himself and many more in the roster. Simo is celebrating his 30th birthday on the 15th of February at the so-called “Dirty Thirty” event at the Lehmann. Paul Ritch’s productions and performances, characterised by his powerful and harmonic techno with a touch of pure emotive soul, represent his true signature sound – the one that has projected him to global recognition.

In 2007, Paul Ritch took the techno scene by storm both on stage and as a producer. Ever since, Paul has been defined by his passionate musical rhetoric, projected in releases for labels like Drumcode, SCI+TEC, Saved, Cocoon Recordings, Soma Records and Bpitch Control, among many others, and remixes to classic tracks such as Ondu, Positive Education,Tropical Melons, Remainings III, Magic K, The Test and I’m Burning Inside. References that have led him to be included among Resident Advisor’s all-time Top 100 charted artists.

In 2008, Paul brought to life his own imprint, Quartz Rec, conceived as a platform of artistic expression for showcasing cutting-edge techno sounds and a broad vision of electronic music. With its first release, “Split EP Part 1” (Paul Ritch, 2008), the label held a top 2 position on Beatport ́s Techno chart. And following hot on the heels of its fifth birthday, Quartz Rec has already published original tracks and remixes from Okain, Paco Osuna, Nic Fanciulli, Thomas Muller, Barem, Carlo Lio, Dubfire, 2000 and One, Onno, Cuartero and Anton Pieete.

Ritch’s musical delirium and his creativity on stage are two of his unique trademarks and these have been witnessed in his live performances on four continents including clubs such as Amnesia, Space and Pacha in Ibiza, Fabric and Egg Club in London, Womb and Circus in Tokyo, Berghain and Watergate in Berlin, Goa in Rome and Madrid, Rex Club in Paris, among many others.

He has also performed at festivals including Time Warp (Holland and Germany), Monegros (Spain), Awakenings, Voltt Open Air and ADE (Holland), SW4 (UK), Neo Pop Festival (Portugal), Hyte Park Festival (NYC), Amore Festival (Italy), BPM (Mexico) and WMC (Miami).
2014 was a year in which Paul continued to excel and reinvent himself with his very own musical mindset, and without a doubt, 2015 will be transcendental for Ritch as he looks to keep growing and achieve even greater goals.
