Commencing his music career at the spritely age of 19 with April & I, a self-produced concept album about a young boy inventing an imaginary friend to get through tough times, and devoting himself to the creation of songs which are both unique and stylistically referential to pop legends such as The Beach Boys and Super Furry Animals, it is no wonder Paul Steel was initially welcomed by music critics as a wunderkind.

After releasing the well-received Moon Rock, his second record as a young solo musician, Paul began to focus his considerable talents on songwriting and production, and has been rapidly gaining a reputation as one of the UK's most promising up-and-coming writers. His writing credits already include Nick Littlemore (Empire of the Sun), Mika, Nicola Roberts, Saint Raymond, and PNAU to name but a few.

2013 was an important year for Paul, who's music gained international exposure when Mika's track 'Underwater' from his 2013 album The Origin of Love was featured on an high-profile Swatch advert. In addition, 2013 was marked by a special return to live performance in the form of Cold Crows Dead, a collaborative musical side-project between Paul and close friend and The Xcerts frontman Murray Macleod. Cold Crows Dead's debut record 'I Fear A New World' was released in December 2013 and gained positive reviews for it's experimental, ambitious and intelligent combination of pop, rock, and alternative elements.
