If your ‘Politics Of Dancing 3’ anticipation levels aren’t scraping the sky already, well this will surely put them there… In a first-time production link-up, Paul van Dyk has collaborated with trance pharaohs Aly & Fila - reteaming in the process with vocal doyen/regular muse Sue McLaren for the magnificent, astounding ‘Guardian’.

Together for the first time, three producers, long celebrated for wowing the clubbing lands with their height-of-the-night productions… Club combustion can be but bare minutes away, right!!? 

Well, yes and no… Over the late December/early January weeks, the Original Mix roared across floors, claiming the #2 spot on Beatport’s trance chart in the process. With the trio’s new Sunrise & Sunset mixes however, Paul, Aly & Fadi drop some expectation-subverting versions into ‘Guardian’s equation. Unexpected, different  - surprising even, their more recumbent tones, dovetailed to Sue’s sweetly sung vocals & bittersweet lyrics, mass to take music lovers to places they may never wish to return from!

For his mix, Goodgreef’s Jordan Suckley goes pole-to-pole delivering a rework that seismically blasts ‘Guardian’ through to the heart of 6am. Tough, on an almost cellular level, Suckley’s thunderous remap will thoroughly test the mettle of your club’s speakers! 

Last but by no means least, Pedro Del Mar & R.I.B take the track on a chilled ride to the lounge side. Linking the circle back to the Sunrise & Sunset Mixes, the pair deliver a richly produced, brilliantly structured ‘ride-home’ revision.

Trance legend Paul van Dyk has announced a monumental North American tour today, presented by Insomniac’s Dreamstate trance brand. The tour consists of 12 dates, sprawling across the U.S. and Canada, capped off with a headlining performance at Dreamstate Festival in San Francisco on May 27th. Playing expansive venues like Washington D.C.’s EchoStage, Opera Nightclub in Atlanta, and House of Blues in Boston, this tour ushers in the new year for trance lovers everywhere; Paul will be joined by trance stars like Vini Vici, Simon Patterson, Alex M.O.R.P.H, Heatbeat and Solarstone along the way, rounding out a can’t-miss event in the dance music world. 

In addition to the tour announcement, Paul van Dyk has also released his next single called ‘Touched by Heaven’, an aptly named track, indeed. Featuring enigmatic, large swells and a classic, rolling PvD bassline, ‘Touched by Heaven’ is a beautiful song. The entrancing melody is carefully wrapped around aggressive, almost brash flavors, combining for what will undoubtedly be one of the biggest trance songs of the year.  

This will be Paul’s first official major tour since his stage accident last year, a massive achievement for an artist who at one point did not know if he would be able to ever perform again. Fortunately, PvD has recovered enough to continue doing what he loves most - playing music to his fans. 

Since its 2015 debut in Southern California, Dreamstate has traveled around the world to six major cities across four countries including North America, Mexico, the UK, and Australia. The brand continues to grow as trance infiltrates mainstream dance music culture, with no signs of slowing down - exemplified by Paul van Dyk’s major US tour. Dreamstate recently announced the its first-ever branded stage at North America’s largest dance music festival and Insomniac’s flagship event, EDC Las Vegas 2017. Paul van Dyk is a regularly billed and beloved artist at Dreamstate events globally, drawing thousands of fans to each of its immersive experiences.      

It’s another busy year for the German producer, who just recently was named the second most traveled artist in the modern era of music.  According to a TravelBird survey, Paul van Dyk has travelled a distance which equates to 58 trips around the world, topping the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and U2 among others.

‘Music Rescues Me’ is the single trailblazer for Paul van Dyk’s fall-released, ninth studio album of the same name. It reunites the internationally renowned music producer with collaborators from not one, but two of his best loved releases of recent times.

For the track’s vocal, Paul is joined by Plumb - the singer who rendered 2012’s ‘I Don’t Deserve You’ much of its emotional punch. ‘Music Rescues Me’s song is co-penned by the lyricist behind latter-day van Dyk anthem ‘Home’, Snow Patrol member and long-time personal friend, Johnny McDaid. 

Paul & Plumb’s shared history reaches back three whole PvD albums, to ‘EVOLUTION’ and ‘I Don’t Deserve You’. Beloved by fans from both quarters, the pair stayed in close contact, looking for the right project to resume the partnership on. That came following a songwriting session between Paul and Johnny. “It took some time, but, says Paul, in ‘Music Rescues Me’, I knew we had the right follow-up for Plumb”. 

Paul’s album opener is a rapture-filled commemoration of music’s remarkable, unending and sometimes even inexplicable capacity to liberate and release. Says Paul “music’s ability to conjure imagery, fuel memories, get us through the tougher times and soundtrack the good ones is awe inspiring. It’s both force and a gift and although I’ve been involved with it for a long time, I’ll never completely understand it. I feel that’s a big part of what keeps it so magical for me and Plumb & Johnny have helped me pay tribute to all that through this release”.

Set amidst epic, reverb-rich guitars strains and dynamic rhythms, ‘Music Rescues Me’ is a track whose rapturously positive-thinking/feeling chorus is only equalled by its imaginatively stimulating verses. It follows three urbanites drawn together on a day-and-night-long, ultimately preternatural journey across Los Angeles.

(R)EVOLUTION: THE REMIXES encompasses fresh-off-the-desk reworkings from a full company of van Dyk’s fellow production studionauts.  Also included is the radio edit of “Such A Feeling” ft. Austin Leeds and vocalist Elijah King, a remake of the instrumental “Verano” that has never been available in North America before.  Leading the charge is the production brotherhood of Woody van Eyden and Alex M.O.R.P.H., who are respectively tasked with retakes of “Sun After Heartbreak” and “Such A Feeling.” Drawing on a wealth of harmonics, thermal synths and Sue McLaren's and Elijah King's vocal talents, they reposition PvD’s original versions in an entirely new light. 

Musical mutineers Kyau & Albert, Maarten De Jong and John O’Callaghan zoom in on some more big room aspects.  Their radical interpretations of “Open My Eyes,” “Symmetries” and “I Don’t Deserve You” respectively highlight drums, percussion and distortion that are altogether more atomic in nature.
 
Emphasizing both the popularity and musical latitude of the latter track, “I Don’t Deserve You” featuring vocalist Plumb gets two further reconfigurations. Having already been voted one of the 15 biggest trance songs of the year on Armin van Buuren’s ASOT radio show, “Deserve” gets some house flavor into its system.  Dubbing up the vocal, Gabriel Ben lets the hats hiss, the percs ride and the rhythms flow on his mix. Meanwhile, fellow American producer WAWA rolls in one big piano moment after another, inciting voracious uplift and fanning (R)EVOLUTION’s flames even further.  

“Naturally, the original versions of EVOLUTION’s tracks were my and my co-producers’ visions. To date, the singles have brought some wonderful, creative remixes with them--ones that blew me away when I heard them,” states Paul van Dyk.  “I played the tracks in clubs and on the radio throughout 2012. They were the seeds for this album and now is the right time to push the boundaries of EVOLUTION a bit further.”

Taking things momentarily deeper and more subversively progressive, the Directors Cut mix seizes on “Love Ammunition”’s lyrical metaphor.  Underpinned by a potent groove and sure-shot drop, Michelle Leonard’s vocals scorch the room. The album stays with her tones as Giuseppe Ottaviani takes control of “Lost In Berlin,” building it up into a mainline titan. 

With PvD’s full backing, other remix-revolutionaries are given free reign to take the music where they see fit.  Pedro del Mar & Double V rock up a storm on the Sue McLaren-vocalled/Arty-co-produced “The Sun After The Heartbreak.” Elsewhere, young-blood Uzbek producer Exense masterminds the “Rock This” rebuild. Tactically he whips it into a powder-keg progressive piece, holding back the pitch-bent synths and rousing shout to the break’s final precipice. Elsewhere, audio guerrillas like Niels von Ahorn, Robert Mint, Nick Callaghan & Will Atkinson and others perform coup after coup with eclectic, thrilling reworkings that build into the consummate EVOLUTION revision.
