BEHIND THE MUSIC:
Music is a gift from God and should always be used to glorify Him. He blesses us with many things like food, water, & shelter. He has also given us ears to hear good music & sight to watch videos, etc. However, we don't glorify Him. Most people see themselves as "good", but the Bible says that "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory God." (Romans 3:23) Why? What is sin? Sin is the breaking of God's laws (1 John 3:4): the Ten Commandments. Let's look at just a few of the Commandments to see how you are doing? How many lies have you told? Have you ever stolen anything (regardless of the value)? Have you ever looked at some with lust? Have you ever used God's name in vain (as a cuss word, or an exclamation) this is blasphemy.

God, the righteous Judge of the entire universe, will judge those who break His law, and the penalty is eternity in hell, His prison. However, the Good News is that God wants to show mercy to us lawbreakers. God came to earth, in the person of Jesus Christ, was tempted in all ways yet was without sin, and died on the cross to pay our penalty. You and I broke God's law, Jesus paid our fine, and He rose on the third day to show that He was God.

Now God commands everyone, everywhere to repent, turn from our sins and turn to Him and trust Jesus as Lord and Savior. He will give you a new heart and place His Spirit within you and when you died, He will bring you into Heaven to be with Him for eternity.

Okay, playing around a little bit. Here is a track I did with the release of Spitfire Audio's Labs Electric Guitars. I liked how it came out and then decided to do a comparison between the free instruments offered by Spitfire Audio and the free instruments offered by Native Instruments. Spitfire Audio is first and Native Instruments is the second time. All same midi.

Butterfly Dance is an early intermediate piece for classical guitar. This edition has two pages and is set in standard notation. I thought it sounded like a butterfly floating and fluttering by. It is the third song on the Sounds Like Rain EP.

What do you do when things happen in life that you just don't understand? Unfulfilled dreams, the loss of a job, the loss of a parent, a spouse or a child, depression and darkness that won't go away; these are all things we would rather not experience. But in the midst of these things, is there a greater purpose at work? Is there any ultimate reason these things happen?

The God of the Bible says, 

“Remember this and stand firm,
recall it to mind, you transgressors,
remember the former things of old;
for I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me,
declaring the end from the beginning
and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
and I will accomplish all my purpose,’

Much of life is a mystery and the question, "Why God?" may be among the most asked in all of history. In some cases, the answer is shrouded. It looks and feels like God is against humanity and sometimes he does bring judgment for sins. But for his children, for those who have trusted completely in his Son, Jesus, for the forgiveness of their sins, God always has a better plan than the one we could ever dream up for ourselves. 

His promise to his children is that he is working all things together for the good of those who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). We may never understand in this life why certain things happen. But as Deuteronomy 29:29 says, 
“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law."

What God choose to keep hidden in his sovereignty is his to hide, but what we can be sure of, what will hold on to us in times of seemingly unexplainable suffering and hardship, is the truth that in Christ, God is for us and not against us. He is faithful and he is at work and we can trust him.

The writer of these hymn verses, William Cowper, suffered most of his life with severe and prolonged bouts with depression and attempted suicide several times but failed each and every time because God had a different plan. Cowper, though often weak and frail in heart, penned these words in faith that "behind a frowning providence, God hides a smiling face." Cowper ultimately believed that God was trustworthy and though he struggled to believe it and live in light of it, the promises of God held him in the midst of the storms.

Whatever you've been through, whatever you're going through, and whatever may be coming your way, if you will trust God for the grace to see with eyes of faith, that he is ultimately working for you in Christ, you will endure, seeing his face within the mystery of his unsearchable ways.
