Ever since his music has been featured in Quentin Tarantino's film Django Unchained as well as the Discovery Channel and the National Geographic Channel, Brother Dege (AKA Dege Legg) can no longer lay claim to being "one of the best kept secrets in the Deep South." Dege is a musician, writer, workingman and heir to a long line of unusual characters born and raised in the southern U.S. Like the mad lovechild of Son House, Faulkner and Patti Smith, Legg has burned a crooked trail to the Promised Land. Avoiding traditional career paths, he has spent as much time exploring the backwoods weirdness of his home state as he has forging his own brand of incendiary, "psyouthern" roots music. The journeys are parallel. Since the late '90s, Dege has pushed slide, resonators, and the Deep South, kicking and screaming into the 21st century, melding elements of folk, Delta blues, punk, rock, metal, hippie ragas and outlaw county into one blasted, raw whole.

Following his two previous acclaimed solo efforts (2009's Folk Songs Of The American Longhair & last year's How To Kill A Horse) Brother Dege is now set to release a unique digital "summer mixtape" entitled Scorched Earth Policy, featuring a mix of newly recorded studio songs, demos, covers and field recordings.

Dege explains the idea behind his new digital mixtape project, "I'm a big fan of southern rap culture, especially DJ Screw (Houston) and screw tapes. I love how hip-hop has bred this vibrant mixtape culture, rapping over each other's beats and songs.  Some of the songs are raw and unmastered and of varying quality, but I love that."

"In no way am I trying to rap, I'm paying tribute to the culture of the modern south and mix tapes, and just applying that idea to the realm of the slide guitar, delta blues and experimentalism."

BROTHER DEGE - Pay No Mind

Following the release of his debut solo single "Save Our Soul," Nick Amadeus, former frontman of the Milwaukee rock band The Delta Routine, will be releasing his follow-up single "Nothing Lasts Forever" featuring Laura Bomber on vocals on December 4th. Nick shares a bit more info on this Americana-leaning track, "This song is about staring down our own impermanence. You can't outrun it, you can’t hide from it. Life catches up with all of us. I really wanted to capture that raw honesty - not as something to fear, but as something that makes every moment matter more. Laura coming in and singing on it was special and really brought the song to its full potential."

These two new solo singles reflect Amadeus's recent creative evolution toward Americana and country influences, marking a significant shift from his rock-and-roll roots with his former band. This stylistic transformation has reignited his passion for songwriting and set the stage for an exciting new chapter in his career.

Fans of his previous work with The Delta Routine can expect to hear a more rootsy, authentic sound that demonstrates his growth as both a songwriter and performer.

Nick Amadeus' new single "Nothing Lasts Forever" wil be available on all DSPs December 4th. His previous single "Save Our Soul" is out now on all digital and streaming platforms. Both of these tracks are from Nick's forthcoming solo studio album due in the spring of 2026.

Nothing Lasts Forever

This is James Williamson's third and last single of the year. This time the guitar legend has teamed up with a talented 19 year-old singer/songwriter named Maia, who is currently attending Berklee College of Music in Boston for vocal music and composition.
 
Williamson's previous efforts this year included a collaboration with Petra Haden on "Blues Jumped The Rabbit" and "Last Kind Words" to benefit the Tazzy Animal Rescue Fund and a collaboration with Lisa Kekaula on "I Love My Tutu" and "Never Far From Where The Wild Things Are" to benefit Project Hawai'i which helps homeless children in Hawaii.
 
This third single will be the last record on which Williamson's iconic "Leopard Lady" guitar will be played. This guitar has been used on every record Williamson has made - from his first album with The Stooges, Raw Power, to the present.  He is donating both the Leopard Lady Les Paul Custom, as well as his Gibson B25N acoustic guitar to the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Museum for posterity. The latter acoustic is the guitar James wrote most of the music to Raw Power on and wrote and played on Kill City, which he recorded with Iggy Pop back in 1975. 
 
Williamson says of his young collaborator, "I first came into contact with Maia through my engineer in Berkeley, Jason Carmer. He played me something she had written and sang and I was instantly intrigued. I had him ask her to come down to the studio the next day (Maia is from San Francisco) and I was blown away by her enthusiasm, talent and the nuance of her vocals. We decided that day to write and record these songs together and this is the result of that effort.  We hope you like them as much as we do."
 
James Williamson and Maia’s “Sickkk” / “I Made A Mistake” single is out November 11th on 7-inch vinyl and digital formats. The donation of Williamson's historical guitars will benefit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum.

Following the release of their first two acclaimed albums, Please Make Welcome (2011) and Holly Grove (2013), the Atlanta-based band The Whiskey Gentry are set to release their third full-length studio album entitled Dead Ringer this spring. On it, the husband and wife duo of Lauren Staley & Jason Morrow and bandmates have created an effort that builds on many of the sounds of their previous albums - incorporating deep country, Americana, honky-tonk, bluegrass and a stiff shot of gritty rock ’n’ roll, yet it also finds the band testing themselves and pushing beyond their own boundaries.

Dead Ringer deals with growing up, and how that’s affected the band’s relationships, and the places they’ve gone and people they’ve met in the process. Paul Collins' (from The Nerves, The Breakaways) two long lost EPs with his band The Beat from the early '80s make it to Lolipop Records as the first re-issue on all formats in over 30 years, from the "king of power pop" himself. "To Beat Or Not To Beat" was recorded in New York in 1983 at The Ranch with John Mathias (The Romantics) and Paul Collins/Steven Huff producing. It was released in the U.S. by Jem/Passport Records and then it was later released in Europe on Closer Records France and Dro Records Spain. The single "All Over The World" was featured regularly on KROQ in Los Angeles and got a lot of airplay in France and in Spain. Steve and Paul toured in Europe off that record for several years until they wound up in London where they recorded their follow-up EP "Long Time Gone," just before returning to the States. "Long Time Gone" was released in 1985 on Closer France and Dro Spain, and both records were released as a two-fer on Wounded Bird Records in 2004. 

Paul Collins Beat's "Long Time Gone / To Beat Or Not To Beat" will be released on vinyl, CD, cassette and digital formats April 28th via Lolipop Records.
