Genix and flowanastasia release ‘Lights, Sound, Camera, Action’, out now on Anjunabeats.

Accomplished DJ and producer Damion 'Damo' Houchen, a.k.a. Genix, has kept momentum high since the release of his debut album, ‘199X’, in 2021. Recent years have seen the Anjunabeats linchpin close Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy Weekender at The Gorge Amphitheatre, launch his club-oriented ‘Warehouse55’ EP series and event brand, and sell out two headline Warehouse55 events in London and Los Angeles. 

Genix’s last EP on Anjunabeats, ‘Warehouse55 (Volume 2)’, earned support from Sasha, John Digweed, Joris Voorn, Rebūke, Armin van Buuren and more. He followed that up last year with an extensive North American tour, as well as with remixes of Andrew Bayer & Vök’s ‘No Silence’ and OceanLab’s ‘Beautiful Together’. 

Born in Ukraine, raised in Toronto, vocalist flowanastasia has been writing and recording music for over a decade. Growing up studying classical piano and singing in choirs, her vocals have graced releases on established labels like Critical, RAM, Shogun, Liquicity, MODUS, Viper and more.

Genix & flowanastasia kicked off the year with their collaborative debut ‘Dependent On You’, which saw spins from Danny Howard on BBC Radio 1 and Ben Malone on Kiss FM. Now, they follow it up with the groove-laden ‘Lights, Sound, Camera, Action’. At a time when the UK club scene is embracing the euphoric energy of 90s rave, their collaboration is perfectly suited for the here and now.  

Expect more music from Genix in the coming months.

Following an array of individual releases on Purified Records, Turkish producer CEAUS and production duo Heard Right team up for a collaborative EP titled ‘Nova’. The title track glistens with delicate synth work and serene vocals, and is pushed along by deep basslines. Fusing melodic and progressive sounds, Heard Right delivers a second offering in the shape of ‘Hidden’ to complete the two-track EP. 

The ‘Nova’ EP artwork features a photograph of a jellyfish, captured by Daniel Nicholson. Jellyfish are gelatinous marine creatures belonging to the phylum Cnidaria. They come in various shapes and sizes, with umbrella-shaped bells and trailing tentacles. These tentacles contain specialized cells called nematocysts, which are used for prey capture and defense. Jellyfish are found in oceans worldwide, from surface waters to the deep sea. While some species are harmless, others can deliver painful stings to humans. The Turritopsis dohrnii, also known as the "immortal jellyfish," is capable of reverting its cells back to their earliest form, effectively reversing aging and potentially achieving biological immortality. Lack of comprehensive data makes it challenging to assess the conservation status of most jellyfish species according to the IUCN Red List. 

Located on the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia, Daniel Nicholson is one of the globe’s most prominent professional underwater photographers. He seeks to share the beauty and magic of the underwater world to inspire conservation and change.

Here, Coone brings his native Belgian take on the genre back to the front and centre and amped up the dial on his deliver, as the Grammy and American Music Award winner Lil Jon brings his crunk flavour to the all-round knock out track. 

‘Join The Madness’ shows the collaborative artists come together as we’ve never seen before, unleashing havoc and demanding listeners hop aboard to experience a musical thrill like no other.
