One of the neat things about hosting MFBT is seeing who these mixes reach/inspire/resonate with. Next up, we have a cinematic, spooky season-appropriate tub adventure from Sabadecade.

A self-identified audiophile “but not a DJ”, he was inspired by Danger Bay's music for bathtubs 04 mix, took the time to splice this “fan submission” together, and wrote some words about it:

Sabadecade (Jeremie Robin), a little introverted, music fan, franco-métis from Winnipeg, MB. Introduced to the underground rave scene by some friends who became DJs in the early 90s. Shoutout to DJ Pulse, DJ Karma, DJ Vaporub, DJ Corbett.

Twitch addict since the Pandemic, you may have seen me lurking in the chat of a local Canadian DJ streams dropping emotes. In between streams, you may find my comments in those local Canadian DJs' Soundclouds or Mixclouds while I sit and have a cigar down by the pond. Shoutout to Grimace, Shael, Elle Fast, Zanz, Kilma, LSDave, Smoothz, Gumby, Whupass, Skene, A-Luck, Oxide, Domain & Polly, Esette, Danger Bay, Molly-Fi, Noor, BillyB, Geosphere.

I've made one digital mix before, over 20 years ago, using Sony Acid Pro Music Studio, but I never did become an actual DJ. This mix I am submitting is an eclectic mix of Ambient, Alternative, Acoustic, Industrial, IDM, Jazz etc. including a few movie clips. I've always loved it when artists/bands had spoken word, movie clips and soundbites mixed into their music and albums. It gets a little eerie at times, but all the while relaxing and chill.

@off99seattle has taken Seattle by storm with their well curated focus on classic house and Detroit techno. What most people don't know is OFF99's parties started at the same time as Routine in the same club. 

While we typically don't put on classic house parties, we had the chance with Makes Me Human (aka @rhizome-seattle) to bring out Soichi Terada and OFF99 was our first immediate answer for opening. 

With that said, we're proud to present part of OFF99's opening set for Soichi Terada.

Routine Radio 019: OFF99

This is the first in a series of mixes I am making for the 'significant others' in my life. The mix is a reminiscent selection of tunes that were pivotal to our (John and I's) time shared in music. John and I have been friends since age 5 and we found electronic music together at the age of 11 through an underground radio station in Cincinnati OH (97x). We started DJing together in 1999 at college (Wittenberg) and began accruing a shared record collection. We opened up the record store together in 2001 and had a storefront in Indianapolis until 2007. This mix features a special list of tunes that bring me back to those early years of mixing with John (Seth & Mack was our moniker). We would spend countless hours listening to records together and curating those 'fine' gems that would make the cut and be a part of our mixable tracks. It was a tough cut, haha! I hope you enjoy this mix of nostalgia from the roots of my mixing days with John (circa 99-03). The featured photos is of John and I in roughly 2002 with our wallpaper of rave flyers behind us - the inspiration of these times, and these tunes.

Seth has been DJing since 1999 when he acquired his first set of turntables. Around the same time the on-line record store began as Evolving Records. In 2001 the record store took to a physical location and remained until 2007 when it went back on-line. During those years and beyond, Seth was involved with throwing a multitude of big shows in the Indianapolis area from big trance acts like Paul Oakenfold to big techno acts like Maetrik (Maceo Plex) and Joel Mull. He was also involved with promotions and held resident DJ spots at the notorious Eden, and Therapy Nightclubs.
In 2010 Seth took the record store (Love Vinyl) operations to Denver and began to work his way into the scene there. Since then he has been involved with many different clubs and promoters making his mark. Seth and partner Kevin Callison began throwing a weekly Thursday night at the Buddha lounge and have kept the night going for 5 years with only a few breaks. For the last 2.5 years solid they have been running a weekly called The Underground which is held in the back room of Milk Bar. The night has built a solid following with a consistent vibe and a high caliber of local, national, and international talent making regular appearances.
In 2015 Eko House came to life in Englewood and was a host to a great deal of big name acts and events. Eko House is the teaming of Camilo Ruiz (Fiat Luxx), Kevin Callison, and Seth. After some sour dealings with the owners, the space was relocated to N Denver where it now stands as a pivotal venue in the Underground afterhours scene of Denver. 
Behind the decks Seth aims to ride the line of teasing and pleasing. The focus is on the contrasting elements in the music, tight seamless mixing, and a sound story. To Seth, DJing is a form of communication and soul sharing aimed to not only make people dance, but to also create an uplifted and transcending vibe.
