Ho ho ho, the mystery-shrouded Rrose - named after Marcel Duchamp’s eponymous persona, punches in right on cue for Xmas with an absolute monster of a two-hour jaunt into their exquisitely twisted headspace. Having served up some of the finest techno slabs of the past decade through the likes of Sandwell District, Stroboscopic Artefacts and now their own dedicated imprint, Eaux, Rrose steps in the series with a bonkers mix of dusty techno hustle-and-bustle, neatly alternating sequences of pumping 4x4 aerobatics, searing, noise-adjacent outbursts and eerie melodies to hypnotic effect. A constant balancing act of raw power and haunting score, Rrose’s RYC mix takes us on a deep and fascinating trip into genre-unbound territories, where only abandon and wildness reign supreme. Enter the wormhole with one of the techno artists we're most excited about in 2025.

Born in Osaka and now based in Tokyo, DJ MARIA. joins a decorated lineage of Japan's psychedelic elite, cut from a similarly explorative cloth as Wata Igarashi, Haruka and esoteric icons ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U and DJ Nobu. This nerdy sanctum of deep techno is a notoriously hard world to break into: only the very best make the grade. DJ MARIA.'s head-spinning sets emphasise why she's already part of the club firmament at home, and is now in the midst of a global breakthrough.

Her trademark is tapestries of acid, trance and techno that strike a perfect balance between vibrancy, impact and restraint. She bit the bug through a teenage discovery of DVDs showing legendary psytrance raves like Solstice and Vision Quest, yet it wasn't until 2014 that she started DJing, balancing gigs with shifts at Tokyo's Face Records and, as of late, motherhood.

Today, as well as producing and touring venues such as FOLD and Bassiani, she helps run two boutique forest festivals—Moment and Transcendence—both of which play a big part in upholding Japan's storied techno tradition. DJ MARIA. has reached these heights principally because of her exceptional talent as a DJ, which is on full display on this week's RA Podcast.

The two-hour mix is pure manna for psychedelic techno heads, though we're confident the depth of feeling, subtle pacing and seamless stitching will lure in fans from across the electronic spectrum. RA.971 is a total treasure—the latest wow moment from an artist destined to have a career littered with them.

Recorded live as part of Bassiani’s New Year celebrations comes a very special four-hour bout from DJ talent 98dots. From Tbilisi to his chosen home of Brooklyn, Nikoloz Gedevanishvili’s sets are deeply enmeshed with his Georgian roots, slick selections that sprint across emotions and genres. He’s been on this mission since his teenage years, and played at the likes of Bassiani, Basement, The Lot and Mutant Radio (he has a show here), pushing a sound that’s highly charged with political energy and community tailored. These dog whistle rhythms are versatile and packed with layers of sound and percussion that snake along their cosmic route, spanning textbook techno, ambient and more experimental fare. Becoming a keystone in both his local Tbilisi and New York scenes, he’s kept sight of the grassroots magic while playing alongside global names like DJ Nobu, Jane Fitz, Wata Igarashi, DMX Krew and Roman Flügel. This latest instalment is an acid-tinged endurance race, four hours of rampaging techno of a distinctly 98dots stripe, rollercoaster beats of the type Nikoloz does best, marching frequencies to usher in the next half decade.

Currently, I am planning to make new sounds for my live sets so I more then happy to share this current part of it! For me it is very easy. My first live set was played at PAX-ROMANA so for me: PAX = LIFE and LIFE = PAX. Thank you friends

Everything vibrates 
Bees detect nectar from flowers by floral sonication
Elephants detect seismic waves with the skin of their feet and trunk
Our conscious awareness of these vibrations is generally more limited than those of animals.
Humans may be more likely to be sensitive to vibrations if one of their senses fails.
And so - deep, dark, yet rounded bass vibrations glue us together 
Forcing us to form shapes and swim along with the current.
This may leave behind some restlessness or feelings of misunderstanding 
Each in their own way finds a way to embrace discovery
Guiding into being every possible form
Inharmonious vibrations - yet in its own form  
Adding itself to the constant and stable lowliness of the kick 
That’s where the beauty forms itself 

The lotus - symbolic for happiness - is born in muddy water 
The muddy water - symbolic for state of suffering - functions as the skin of the Lotus 
Harmoniousness is created by the skin of duality 
Sequences with opposite extremes - which we depend on
The skin of darkness enables us to experience brightness 
To dwell in sorrow for a long time - where everything seems aimless 
Starting the process of discovery teaches us translating hidden pathways
Which will never be unlocked unless the synergy between the two sides is understood
Too much light can burn our sight,  
Too much heat can turn us to ash,  
Too much love can suffocate us through its grip.  
We need the darkness to dream,  
the cold to keep us whole,  
and the quiet to let us breathe.
