Smells Like Rain was born August 2024 in a spirit of rock revival. Founders Payton and Parker Andrews are Texas-born instrumentalists and brothers who have long shared a love of hard rock and its soft power. The brothers played violin and piano together through childhood, but as their musical paths diverged into more individual pursuits, they developed complimentary skills and discovered their collaborative potential. 

As the Andrews’ brothers continue to recruit band members and explore eclectic musical influences, the pair are eager to manifest SLR’s footprint. Their classical training and versatility allows them to embrace rock’s traditions without conforming to one of its growing sub-genres. 

SLR melds the textures and rhythms of minimalism with the attitude of hard-hitting rock and harmonic complexity of the jazz-era. The result is a stylish revival of 80’s and 90’s rock that is uniquely framed in timeless, classical forms. SLR will release its first EP in the Spring of 2025 in tandem with plans for a 2026 tour.
