7. When Music Sounds

Peter de Mets was commissioned by the Mansfield University Choral Department (Peggy Dettwiler, Director of Choral Activities) to honor the memory of one of the Music Department's patrons, Keith Cooper. The piece was performed at Carnegie Hall in January of 2023.

Remembered Music

Commissioned by the Pennsbury High School Chamber Singers, James Moyer, Director. A setting of the George Santayana poem from his set of sonnets, called To W.P. this poem is carved into the AIDS memorial in Vancouver, where composer Peter de Mets first found the poem. Immediately after reading the poem, he wanted to set it to music.

With You A Part Of Me

Commissioned by the Lutheran Church of God's Love to celebrate their 50 year anniversary. The text is by Cheri Tigh, the church's Director of Music. It is scored for SATB choir, Handbells, and Piano.
This is the recording of the world premiere performance featuring the choirs of the Lutheran Church of God's Love in Newtown PA. Cheri Tigh is at the piano and the performance is conducted by the composer, Peter de Mets.

We Are Listening Premiere

The text by William Blake is set here by Peter de Mets. It was commissioned by NorthVoice, the select choir from Council Rock High School North in Newtown PA, directed by Jared Williams. 

This recording is a live performance by David McConnell's ensemble, Vox Philia.

World premiere of Peter de Mets' setting of Mark A Boyle's poem, Edge of the River. Commissioned by The Central Dauphin High School Singers and their director, John Madas. The piece is dedicated to the memory of Peter de Mets' father who passed away in December of 2024. This performance was recorded at the NAfME Eastern Division Conference in Hartford CT on April 26, 2025

Go Lovely Rose

The Seton Hill University Women's Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Mark A. Boyle conducts the setting of this traditional English carol.  The arrangement, by Peter de Mets, was a gift to Dr. Boyle and the SHU Women's Chorale.

Wexford Carol

The SSAA (div) arrangement of my setting of Mark A. Boyle's beautiful text.  Originally set for SATB (div) voices, this re-arranged (and slightly re-imagined) version was composed for the New Jersey All-State Treble Choir 2017 and premiered in the New Jersey Performing Arts Center under the direction of the Poet.

Peter de Mets has been commissioned to compose choral, instrumental and theatrical music by Central Bucks High Schools West and East, the George Street Playhouse, Passage Theatre Company, Council Rock High School North, Pennsbury High School, Mercer Dance Ensemble, Ewing High School, Morrisville Presbyterian Church, Salem United Church of Christ, the Susquehanna University Chapel Council, Princeton Opera Association, Mercer County Performing Arts High School’s Dance department, and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
