Dirty Projectors, Goldmund, Here We Go Magic,蓮沼執太を輩出して来たWestern Vinylの看板アーティストであり、2ndアルバム『Rivers Arms』(2008)、3rdアルバム『All is Wild, All is Silent』でポストクラシカル・シーンで絶大な支持を受けEfterklangとツアーを共にしてきた米国テキサスの6人組Balmorhea(バルモレイ)。
いままでアコースティック・ギターとピアノを多く使ってきた彼らですが、今作ではエレクトリック・ギターのループ、ヴィブラフォン、シンセ、ウクレレ、スティール・パン、そしてドラム。荘厳な雰囲気を得意とした彼らが、昨年リリースの7インチ”Candor/Clamor”の流れから、よりポストロックの要素を加えダイナミックなサウンドへと進化しました。
メロディーや音の派手さだけに頼らない彼らの美学が随所に詰まった作品。昨年ポストロックの復権を取り戻したExplosions In The Sky『Take Care...』に続く歴史的名作の予感です。

＜Balmorhea(バルモレイ)＞
2006年にRob LoweとMichael Mullerで結成。テキサスの地名Balmorheaからバンド名をつけているだけに500人弱のテキサス西部の生活から彼らの音楽は大きな影響を受けている。『フィールド・レコーディングスとアコースティック・ギター、ピアノを中心とした傑作『Rivers Arms』(2008)、バンジョーとドラムを加えた出世作『All is Wild, All is Silent』(2009)、そしてクラシカルでミニマルな室内楽の荘厳さを持つ『Constellations』(2010)
と様々な形で彼らの高い作曲のセンスとアレンジ能力を聴く事ができる。いままでにFleet Foxes、Tortoise、Bear in Heaven、mono, Here We Go Magicらと共演。
