Andreas Söderström och Johan Berthling har gjort musiken till regissören Lisa Langseth, Guldbagge vinnare 2010 Till Det Som Är Vackert, nya långfilm Hotell.

“När jag som producent och filmens manusförfattare och regissör Lisa Langseth började fördjupa oss i vilken musik som egentligen skulle passa Hotell så ville vi åt något otyglat och vilt men samtidigt ändå drömskt och vackert.

Första mötet med våra kompositörer Andreas Söderström och Johan Berthling var en direkt förälskelse. Kompositörernas känsla för det filmiska fanns det inget tvivel om efter arbetet med musiken till 30 grader i februari, men även det universum de skapat i såväl El Rojo Adios, Tape och med Andreas soloprojekt ASS, är en uppvisning i melodiskt och arrangemangsmässigt snille.

När du ser filmen så kommer du märka att det sker ett tonskifte efter första akten, ca 30 minuter in i filmen. Det är även då musiken kommer in. Utan detta tonsäkra score så skulle vi aldrig lyckas med att få med oss publiken i överenskommelsen, att dessa stackare ändå kommer ta sitt välmående i egna händer.

Till dig som lyssnar kan vi bara önska dig en njutbar lyssning. Vrid upp volymen och dröm dig bort, du kanske kommer börja fundera på om man inte skulle välja att vara någon annan. Bara en stund?”

 "Body in White" is a debut mini album by Anton Holota (14circles, .at/on, COTF). It explores the dark and rhythmic noise sound created with analog and digital sound processing tools. The concept of "Body in White" describes a production phase in the automotive industry, during which the main vehicle skeleton is welded together. This title reflects the idea behind the album, which contains "rude" sound effects polished with help of different tools to achieve minimalistic and dark, but at the same time energetic sound. The "Body in White" was recorded in the Anton's new studio in Germany during 2013."

Void Vision is a Philadelphia-based electronic project helmed by Shari Vari. It began around 2009 at a time when a wave of synth-revivalists were materializing, but the quality of the songwriting and intense vocals set the band apart from the pack. In a rare instance, Void Vision has managed to combine vintage dance elements with melodic structures, haunting melancholy, and lyrics that have a palpable soul. The songs themselves are dynamic, referencing a cross-section of the last 30 years of electronic music, while simultaneously retaining a uniqueness all their own.

Wierd Records weekly club night in New York, which showcased a variety of talented electronic and coldwave artists, served as an incubator for Void Vision in it’s early stages. After a standout debut performance at the club, they immediately caught the attention of Blind Prophet Records, who consequently released their first 7″ single, ‘In 20 Years’, which received excellent reviews.

Vari has continued performing and recording steadily over the last few years, releasing songs on compilations for various labels, including Rough Trade, and in 2012 the song ‘Everything is Fine’ was selected for Artforum magazine’s ‘Best of 2012′ issue. In 2013, Void Vision toured the West Coast and later that year released a split 12″ with Portland-based band, Vice Device. The first official full-length album, entitled ‘Sub Rosa’ is set to debut on Berlin-based Mannequin Records, followed by a European tour in 2015.

Shari Vari formed Void Vision in 2009 originally as a duo, during the explosion of the new minimal synth and cold wave scene in United States. Sharing the same scene of the Wierd Records associates like Led Er Est, Martial Canterel, Xeno & Oaklander, Automelodi, in 2010 VV released ‘In Twenty Years’ on Blind Prophet (Sean Ragon’s Cult Of Youth record label), receiving also the attention of the Rough Trade dudes, who asked to put out a track for one of their synth wave compilations.
After other split vinyls, tapes and compilations, Mannequin approached Shari with the intention to continue what Wierd Records started, giving a proper shape to her beautiful and youthful dark electronic sound. The result is 10 hypnotic cold analog tracks dominated by the warm and fragile Shari’s voice, some more “pop orientated” some others belonging to the original “cold wave” atmosphere.

“Sub Rosa” is an edition of 400 copies on 160 gram black vinyl and 100 copies on 160 gram white vinyl.

This new album, which keeps their rock, noise and psychedelic spirit, is a collection of English songs. This time, the legendary singer of dutch band The Ex (Touch & Go Records) : GW Sok deploys its melody.

The guitarist Olivier Mellano also brings his personal touch giving this disc a singular and sometimes orchestral dimension.

Staubgold proudly presents the legendary first 12“ EP from 1979 by UK underground heroes Family Fodder, for the first time reissued on CD and vinyl. "Sunday Girls (Director’s Cut)" comes as a lovingly assembled full-length album compilation. It features the complete "Sunday Girls" EP, the very first Family Fodder 7" single "Playing Golf" (1979), the "Debbie Harry“ 7" from 1980, the 7“ A side "Warm" (1980) and last not least two tracks from the rare "Te Deum" 12“ (1979) by Alig Fodder’s pre-Fodder project Frank Sumatra.

This meeting was planned by the devil, because he wanted to do some good for a change: the avant-jazz-electronica-rock’n'roll project Kammerflimmer Kollektief from Karlsruhe has been assembling a wide range of sounds live and on record ranging from unforeseeable noise, soft sighs of love and exploding hearts of iron since 1996. Now they are making music with writer, journalist and former Spex editor in chief Dietmar Dath. The musicians and the author chose their shared name in honour of the lesbian author and journalist Annemarie Schwarzenbach.

“Nicht sterben. Aufpassen.” -  9 songs, some intimate, some infatuated, some grim and some relaxed between spoken word, singing voices and music blossoming as by itself in all colours imaginable.

Literature does not want to be nowhere and never, but always and everyone. And Music does not want to be nowhere and never, but here and now. Music is the absolute art of time. The encounter between these two ways of working, the always and everywhere of text and the here and now of music, can cause the kind of convulsive beauty that other people perhaps get from nowhere and never fantasies.

HOX  'Javelin' (EMEGO 214)

Following their first release on Darla, Eternal Horse is the ninth album of the Icelandic ambient rock band Stafrænn Hákon. Eternal Horse contains nine pop-oriented and vocally driven melodies. The album builds on certain elements heard on Gummi (2007) and Sanitas (2010), filled with soft and floating guitars mixed with heavier guitar sounds, layers of acoustic instruments and vocals. Vocals and lyrics on the album are in the hands of Magnús Freyr Gíslason and At The Close Of Everyday frontman, Minco Eggersman, who again collaborates with the band, providing his deep and soothing vocals to three songs on the album.

Baumann/Koek is another hitherto undiscovered treasure of German electronic music, the only album by the electronic music pairing of Wolfgang (not Peter!) Baumann and Ata Koek, both from Kempten, Bavaria. It was mixed in Conny Plank’s studio and distributed, without a label, by the duo themselves in 1978. The music owes much to the Berlin School: layered sequencer patterns, swirling chord tapestries, a computer beat here and there. Oriental elements or hints thereof add a particular charm to Baumann/Koek, available now for the first time on CD (+vinyl and download) Out Jan 29, 2016

Prominent Iranian artist Siavash Amini continues a triptych of works with ‘Subsiding’, an album of instrumental ambient drone. His most full and detailed sound to date illustrates Amini’s ability to bring together modern classical composition with that of controlled noise, granular synthesis, and atmospheric soundscape. Both monolithic and micro sound sculptures coexist within a perfect balance, a mix which makes for an all encompassing listen across the audio spectrum, funereal yet uplifting.

Complete with striking cover photography by Alex Kozobolis, “Subsiding” will be available on glass-mastered CD in digipack sleeves (run of 200) and digital formats.

Born at Scotland's post-Punk crossroads in 1979, Boots For Dancing kicked down the boundary walls of a played-out scene and introduced the UK to a more funky way of doing Punk. Hugely popular as a live act, often wiping the floor with the bands they were supporting, Boots was something genuinely ahead of the epoch's curve and played an important part in the vanguard of the burgeoning Post Punk and Punk-Funk movements. Sadly, Boots For Dancing's light shone brightly but briefly. Though the band had connections with, and cross-pollinations between, better-known acts such as The Rezillos, The Human League and Josef K.

Their boundless energy and undeniable talent never proved quite enough for great success. Great songs, even bolstered with good looks, are no guarantee of success in the fickle music business. Ultimately, business got in their way and the group disbanded in 1982 with just a few single releases in its canon, though a wealth of potential hits had been put to tape. Athens of the North is proud to present the band's 1982 album-that-never-was - an album that surely would have made them. It still sounds as fresh as it was when recorded.
