Katatonia, the Swedish purveyors of dark progressive rock/metal, have released their eagerly awaited 10th studio album The Fall of Hearts, through their long-time home of Peaceville Records.
The official follow-up to 2012’s acclaimed Dead End Kings was recorded at Stockholm’s Studio Gröndahl & Tri-lamb Studio, and was self-produced by Anders Nyström & Jonas Renkse. Mixing and mastering duties were carried out by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Ihsahn, Devin Townsend) at Fascination Street Studios, with Karl Daniel Lidén (Switchblade, The Ocean, Greenleaf) brought in as engineer.
The dramatic yet desolate artwork was created by long time Katatonia designer and illustrator Travis Smith.
Katatonia have spent the past four years since the release of Dead End Kings touring the world, as well as expanding their fanbase through two special albums on Kscope, the sister label of Peaceville. 2013 saw the release of Dethroned & Uncrowned which exploded the core of the songs on Dead End Kings creating new moods and textures. In 2015, they released the live acoustic album and concert film, Sanctitude. Both releases illustrate the band’s journey toward this, their current more progressive sound.
The Fall of Hearts is the first record to feature new drummer Daniel ’Mojjo’ Moilanen and with the addition of their recently recruited guitarist Roger Öjersson (Tiamat), who came in just in time to sprinkle some blistering solos on the album, Katatonia will continue to push their musical boundaries beyond their roots in the metal scene while drawing in new fans from across the musical spectrum like peers such as Opeth and Anathema have also done, cementing Katatonia’s place as one of the most revered and cherished of all bands in the world of modern heavy music.

PEACEVILLE RELEASE THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION OF SIKTH’S DEATH OF A DEAD DAY ON CD WITH EXCLUSIVE BONUS TRACKS

Following the release on Peaceville of SikTh’s mini album Opacities, the first new music from the forefathers of British progressive metal, since their acclaimed 2006 sophomore album Death Of A Dead Day, Peaceville are proud to be re-releasing the album on the 10th anniversary of its original release.

Death Of A Dead Day, most arguably the bands most popular record, was recorded over a 6 week period in Miami in 2005, self produced with mixing & engineering duties handled by Mike LaPlant (Skindred, Nonpoint, Soil, Dashboard Confessional). Opening track 'Bland Street Bloom' was a brutal progressive thrash song with vocalist Mikee W Goodman penning lyrics inspired by the gentrification of the UK high street. The song also spawned an animated video (directed by Tim Fox) which featured regularly on MTV's Headbangers ball in the US and was heavily played in the UK.

SikTh played their largest headline tour to date in support of 'DOADD' with 'Bland Street..' becoming the bands opening live track for years to come. Their appearance at 2006’s Download Festival became legendary - the second stage tent was closed due to over capacity and they put on a show that to this day defines their live reputation. It was in late 2007 the band decided to close the book on SikTh and they played their final show to an emotional crowd in London.

In the years that followed SikTh's name and influence was kept alive by bands like Protest The Hero, Periphery, TesseracT and Animals As Leaders. The genre known as 'djent' flourished with many stalwarts of the scene, including Meshuggah, claiming SikTh gave birth to the movement.

Peaceville presents Death Of A Dead Day as a CD with exclusive bonus material, and is due to be released in a sleevepac with a 12 page colour booklet featuring lyrics and pictures with original cover artwork created by Tim Fox.

Along with the re-release of Death Of A Dead Day, this summer sees SikTh embarking on their first ever North American tour and will be supporting Periphery. This follows recent headline shows and festivals across the world including Japan, India, Nepal as well as gaining the coveted support to Slipknot on their recent UK tour.

Mork was created by Thomas Eriksen in the town of Halden in Norway during 2004. Mork was primarily a side-project for Eriksen from inception until the debut album release in 2013, & since then the band has rightly earned their accolade as one of the top Norwegian black metal acts of recent years, receiving strong endorsements from their peers.

‘Eremittens Dal’ is Mork’s third album, and stands as a tribute to the spirit of old-school Norwegian black metal. The album is primarily inspired by the works of Darkthrone & Burzum, complete with raw production & ice-cold riffs, but with its own dynamic and atmospheric twist; stepping effortlessly between the ferocious and the melancholy. The album covers themes of hate, death, seclusion and misanthropy, both lyrically and in the way that a one-man-band makes music in solitude, perfectly fitting of the title, translated as ‘Valley of the hermit’. The suitably grim pencil cover art comes courtesy of Jannicke Wiese-Hansen, who famously made artwork for early Burzum and Satyricon releases. 

Having featured guest vocals from none other than Darkthrone’s Nocturno Culto on their previous album, ‘Eremittens Dal’ includes special guest appearances from Dimmu Borgir's Silenoz who contributes vocals on two tracks, plus additional bass parts from 1349's Seidemann. ‘Eremittens Dal’ was recorded at Rottehullet Studio in Halden, Norway. It was mixed by Freddy Holm at Kleiva Studio & mastered at Enormous Door in the US (Darkthrone’s The Underground Resistance & Arctic Thunder).

This edition of 'Eremittens Dal' will be released CD presented in a digipack packaging complete with a 16-page booklet. Though Mork is essentially a solo-project, a full live line-up has been established, where the band has already played throughout Europe and parts of North America, plus famously a recent show in Izmir, Turkey, following in the footsteps of the legendary Mayhem.

FLEURETY was formed in Ytre Enebakk, Norway in 1991, & is known for their experimental & boundary-breaking approach to black metal. The band has released two albums to date, plus a string of EPs, & has primarily existed as a duo featuring Alexander Nordgaren (formerly live guitarist for Norwegian legends, Mayhem) & Svein Egil “Zweizz” Hatlevik (Umoral, Strid, ex-Dødheimsgard) throughout their full history. 

‘The White Death’ is Fleurety’s third full-length studio release; marking almost two decades since 2000’s ‘Department of Apocalyptic Affairs’, and shows the band returning to the style of the legendary debut ‘Min Tid Skal Komme’ (1995); however, this time more experimental, sarcastic and concise. As a result, ‘The White Death’ captures a darker and more disturbing version of Fleurety than ever before, embracing the strange and the abstract to create a wholly unconventional yet often poignant opus, both deep and raw in its expression.

The band line-up for ‘The White Death’ features guitarist Alexander Nordgaren and drummer/vocalist Svein Egil “Zweizz” Hatlevik, now joined by bassist/vocalist Czral-Michael Eide (Virus, Aura Noir), vocalist Linn Nystadnes (Deathcrush, Oilskin), plus flutist Krizla (Tusmørke, Alwanzatar) and backing vocalist Filip Roshauw (The Switch). ‘The White Death’ was recorded by the band themselves and mixed by godfather of Norwegian noise music, Lasse Marhaug. Mastering was performed by longstanding partner of the band Greg Chandler (Esoteric) at Priory Studios, with artwork courtesy of Trine+Kim Design Studio (Ulver, Darkthrone).

THE CULT 1992 RELEASE OF BLACK/VIKING METAL FROM THE GRAMMY-AWARD-WINNING NORWEGIAN PIONEERS, NOW ON PEACEVILLE.    

Enslaved was formed by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson in 1991, and are based in Bergen, Norway. Ivar and Grutle had previously played together in the death metal band, Phobia. Taking a different route to many of the extreme metal Norwegian bands of the early 90’s, Enslaved embraced their Viking history and culture, composing ferocious epics of extreme metal combined with hypnotic riffs and repetitious structures; Enslaved even becoming signed to Euronymous’ Deathlike Silence label early in their career.

  ‘Yggdrasill’ was the band’s second demo (following 1991’s feet-finding ‘Nema’), showing a young band with great passion and creativity. The songs were understandably raw and contained some traits of the Norwegian wave of black metal sweeping the region at the time, along with their own individual touch. Although more focused on Viking/Norwegian lore than anything satanic, Enslaved’s signature sound still captured the magic of the genre with long, hypnotic compositions losing the listener within their vast sonic landscapes.  

Over the years, the band has integrated strong elements of progressive music into their compositions and  Enslaved has gone on to worldwide notoriety for their stunning live shows and accomplished blend of atmospherics & sumptuous, powerful riffs, receiving numerous accolades along the way, including Norwegian Grammys.  

This edition of ‘Yggdrasill’ contains lyrics, as well as new liner notes written by the band.
