Acoustic Guitar

I have been having jazz piano lessons, mainly to help develop my live playing. Although I have played for a long time I usually really on fixing my playing in the sequencer and overdubbing parts. So I thought I would record a real time piece inspired by my classes... Not particularly original but I had fun writing this and learning to play it live.

Jazz piano

A vocal track made with Propellerhead's Record and Reason. This uses Neptune for vocal harmonies. This was inspired by Opeth (the quieter songs) but the end result doesn't sound that much like them, probably due to my singing style.

A solo piano piece - I thought there might be more.... but apparently not.

A prog track with a bit of influence from Frank Zappa, Steve Vai and Oceansize.

This track uses Record with Reason Pianos, the FSB Jazz drum kit, Progtronic Bass and Shred combinators and some RFS congas....I play my Ibanez through Amplitube.

Continuity

I recorded this song in 2010 using Reason (Record/Reason). I have just added to my soundcloud set list now.

Be there

This track was created in Reason. I used Reason Piano, Reason Electric bass and Neil Peart  Drums. Guitars are played on an Ibanez RG and use Line 6 amps and effects in Reason. Vocals use Melodyne for pitch correction.

The track was created for the living novel 'Return to Styx' http://returntostyx.com/chapterone.html and will be included in that novel in the near future.

Hope is Gone

This is a simple jam based around two chords (Am and Cm) with alternating lead lines on synth and guitar. I just got a new JTV-89 and wanted to try it out and also a new keyboard.

I used Reason to record and Ozone 5 to master.

This is a bit self indulgent and twiddly, there is no progression - but at least it's short :)

This is a song inspired by Steely Dan (any major dude)

I started it a few years ago and I have asked various people to collaborate on it, but as no one has... I think it might be finished.

As usual recorded in Reason and mastered in Ozone 5

A track made in Reason 6.5. This was inspired by listening to Anekdoten (although it doesn't sound like them).

Anecdote

I started this track about nine months ago and never finished it off. Jeremy suggested a collaboration, so we swapped half finished tracks. This is the first of two. We both wrote parts of this track and played piano, the opening, ending and middle piano solo are all Jeremy and he plays most of of the lead synths & strings. He also plays melody lines on the Stick...
I played guitars, drums and bass, some piano and some synths.

This was a fun track to make as we passed files back and forth quite a few times responding and adapting parts the other had done.
