This weeks mix by Berlin based Peak & Swift does not fall into this category. We've witnessed the duo blow the lid off parties many times before, and its fair to say that this recording follows suit. It is, or would be, a dancefloor destroyer. A combo of upfront rhythms and square synthlines make for an hour of great listening from the pair, who are residents and curators at one of Berlin's most reputable venues Salon Zur Wilden Renate. Closing @ Renate Berlin, Red Room. 🔴 „Insanity“ ... It's not so easy to describe what this gig at the Renate felt like for me. I'll try anyway. I prepared myself by picking out a collection of tracks from my records, all of which are „Killers no Fillers" in my eyes - I deliberately didn't plan when I would play which one. I'll decide that at the moment, when the time comes. I also only decided what the first track would be in the last half hour before the gig on the dance floor while dancing to Carlo Bonanza and Lisa Luka who played a powerful b2b. Inner Lakes - Secret Fire.

I wanted to keep everyone dancing the whole time at this closing and get those who were walking past to stay. The excitement started 20 minutes beforehand. This is new since I started playing records. And I like it. On paper, this was actually my first club gig where I only wanted to play records. It's actually kind of crazy, but somehow it suits me. I love cold water and the challenge. When I got to the top, the excitement was gone - even before the first track.

Now comes the part that was actually indescribable. Indescribable because it was so beautiful. The dancefloor didn't get emptier, it got fuller and fuller, even though you weren't allowed to smoke, which is known to cause a lot of fluctuation on the floor. I was completely overwhelmed by the response and the vibe. The planned 2.5 hours turned into over 3 hours and even then it wasn't enough. My energy was used up by half past 8 in the morning, so Hausi (Daniel Hauser) took over again, who played the warm up full of old and new discotunes in the beginning). In the end he let me play a closing track - Insanity by Culture Beat. Insanity, that actually sums it up pretty well. I also had goosebumps every now and then while I was playing and had to grin because it's so amazing to be able to do that. You guys were awesome ... When I think about it now - a day and a half later - I still have to smile to myself. I had the feeling that most people enjoyed it about as much as I did and the feedback afterwards confirmed that feeling. <3 

I'm just so happy and grateful. This evening has definitely raised my personal standards for a gig and I hope for many more opportunities like this. Thank you Paul aka. Carlo Bonanza for the trust, Hausi for your support, which can always be relied on, and Lisa Luka for your Feel Good Energy. Your performances were just so great, we can be really proud of ourselves. @aroma-plus

Being a part of the line up at the beautiful Studio 54 Stage, curated by @DiscoBizarre, was a huge honor for me and I still can't believe this was the first festival stage I ever got to play on. 

And to the crowd - Thank you for dancing with me into the morning sun and sticking around for this wild journey from Italo to Disco, 80s, House and back! You were an absolute VIBE and made those two hours feel truly magical <3

Peak's origins are unknown, though it has been said he may have been raised deep in the Brokeback Mountians of East-Saxonia, but this is all mere speculation. Maturing (or not) in the club/rave scene and quickly picking up the art of DJing at the tender age of fifteen, he has made a name for himself in this urban jungle we call Berlin. Swift was first spotted in the Berlin area around the year 2000 or so when he teamed up with his partner in crime, Peak. They quickly melted their musical interests of house, disco, deep and dubby techno into a powerhouse sound that's main mission was banish the cold, dark, "minimal" sounds of that era in Berlin and warm the city up to the current sound that has taken over now. The duo was seen ducking in and out of the shadows of Berlin's most infamous clubs, before they finally found they're home in the mysterious, Salon - Zur wilden Renate. Together they have helped Renate grow from a club in it's infancy to the world-renowned underground mecca it has become today, boasting incredible house, techno and disco lineups on a weekly basis, not to mention a series of open air events and many wild themed parties throughout the year.
