It's all about the Beats & Breakbeats. I have tried to gather some lesser known and even older tunes for this mix as well as some fresh new tunes with less of the gnarly type of bass sounds (we hear these days) but more of rolling funky bass lines and of course those lovely beats & breakbeats all hovering around the 112BPM mark.

Ross Go Pecoe - Catch The Funky Beat

I make these mixes in Ableton for a bit of fun and a rest from making a track or remix for a label etc. I love seeing what mashups and edits i can make on the go even giving myself ideas for future use of samples and music. This is really a cut and paste mix using intros, loops and beats to make a mix between each track. There is no rhyme or reason for each track, i literally throw tracks into Mixed In Key and arrange from there.

I've thrown it all in again. Using Abelton to create a continous mix of music, copy, cutting, pasting and creating edits and loops as i go. From Lady Gaga to Daft Punk to the Doobie Brothers, it's a mish mash of music all not making sense to mix together but some how working out in the end. I've been going back to where it all started for me lately, making edits. This one just flowed today, a cut up The Honey Drippers - Impeach The President Instrumental plus a synced G-Unit acapella, added kick, snare, hi hat, tambourine, crashes and reverse crashes. Such a simple edit but works quite well. Also digging the bounce on this one.

I think in the last 10 weeks or so i've made an edit every week. Going to go over them in time and put them up as an album on Bandcamp at some point. Anyway this one is a FREE DOWNLOAD. Enjoy :)

Pecoe hails from Perth, Western Australia and his love for EDM started back in the very early 1990's attending various raves and club nights at that time. Pecoe runs the Breakzlinkz website too, since 2007 and an offshoot of that called Old Breaks Mixes. From the music production side of things pecoe mainly keeps it funky and debuted his first EP back in 2017 on Breakbeat Paradise Recordings. Backing that up with releases on Cuttin It Fine, Gritz & Gravy, Big Fat Mama Beats, That's Not An Edit, Fort Knox Recordings, Applique Music, Young NRG Productions, 9th Avenue, Growroom Productions, Pig Ball Records, Katakana Edits and Spa In Disco.
