VGM (Detective)

Here is a new track! (Kind of) Well, this is something I had a while ago that was very good and I touched it up a little to put it on SoundCloud. Though I haven't played any of the games (yet), this is inspired by Silent Hill. I love the music and that is where this music takes inspiration from. This is best heard through headphones. My freak, my flow (Featuring Beth Slater and Karl McManus.


This is a track that is inspired by three different tracks.

The first track is called "Sunshine after the rain(Clubland remix)" by Flip and fill. My song was inspired by the thumping drum beat of the chorus that is featured in other generic dance music, but my track is more focused on the vocals. The second track is a generic but good dance track I heard on holiday, though sadly I can not and will not find the song on the internet, so sadly a link cannot be left. 

The third track is Bassline Junkie by Dizzee Rascal. Though I cannot stand most of his songs, I really like this track especially when the bass frequencies are turned up. This track inspired me for three main reasons. 

1) Bassline Junkie has rapping vocals in the verse and the chorus has mainly the repetition of one phrase "It's just my freak, my flow" "I'm a bassline junkie".

2) Both songs rely quite heavily on the bass, drums and vocals. 

3) They both are repetitive, yet simple and fun. Both songs use the same three note chord progression throughout the whole song.

Afro Samurai (Feat. Beth Slater)


A song I've written based on the hit anime series "Afro Samurai". It is based on his journey on revenge and even has a clip from the show near the end of the song. It is inspired by all the music from the show. Both of these tracks inspired me for the same reasons. The first reason is both tracks use the same drum beat throughout the whole song, but all the songs don't get boring because they're short and the changes come from the melodies and are all vocally driven. The second reason is that my song's lyrics are about the anime series these tracks come from, I summarize the plot of the original five episode series and I even used an audio clip from the series at the end of my track. The last reason is that I try and use a similar style of vocal delivery to the original Afro Samurai theme without out-righting copying it.

Afro Samurai

Japanese Samurai Battle

A piece that combines a video game style music with traditional Japanese cultural music and electronica. This song is inspired by two other tracks, the first is "Combat" from Afro Samurai by The RZA. This song inspired me for one simple reason. The song uses a strong, hooky drum beat and it holds the track on it's own. While that song keeps the same beat because it is a short song, my track uses several drum beats that are catchy and aren't treated like a background instrument. www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuouURRMbVM


The other track is "Ain't that funny" from Madworld. This track was my main inspiration, there are three main reasons for this.

1) The instrumentation of our songs are similar, both tracks heavily rely on the drum beats and the Japanese Koto. The track "Ain't that funny" combines funky rap with traditional eastern music, specifically Japan. 

2) The track "Ain't that funny" is used as a battle theme for the game "MadWorld". It certainly sounds like a song fit for battle and that is what I aimed for my track. The first one and a half minutes being a pre-battle theme in preparation and the gong effect is when the battle would begin. I feel it would flow right for a Video Game battle  or for any eastern battle in general in a film, supernatural or realistic as long as it's Samurai and Eastern themed. 

3) "Ain't that funny" for most of the song transistions between two main melodies that are both catchy, my song cycles between three main melodies, but so those melodies don't get boring, I spice it up by intensifying the rest of the instrumentation (mainly the drums) to stop listeners getting bored. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NuISynXwCo

Japanese Samurai Battle

Disposable Ningen. 

This is a screamo electronic song. It is very heavily inspired by four tracks. 

The first track is "Systematic people" by the band WAGDUG FUTURISTIC UNITY. The track inspired mine directly. I have never heard anything like this track, it's pumping electro screamo punk. I went for the bitcrusher effect that this song has, the pumping drum beat that get you moving and the screamo vocals. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESvoac06VX8 

The second track is called "No Redemption" by Combichrist. This track is hard to explain why it inspires me, but it's for similar reasons. I love the drums on this track and the guitar that makes you want to move to the beat. The third one is Intro/Chaos Step by Mad Capsule Markets. More so for the intro, this track inspires my song because of the real pumping drum beat and that hooky guitar riff that in my song is instead a deep bass line that comes in the break between the verse and chorus. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KZBam7ZgsY

The final track is Kizangai by Deadman Wonderband. This is a really creepily dark dance track. Though the vocals are on a technical level, I really like them because I think it compliments the very mechanical nature of the song, the character for who this track is used as a theme for is a methodical and matchematical man, that's why I think that suits his character. As for my song, I feel that while my track relies a bit more on a fast tempo, both songs are very tense, dark yet funky dance tracks. My vocals go a completely different style of singing, but I find they are both similar in the sense that they fit the style of the song. 


 It is worth noting the word Ningen means Human in Japanese in the contest i use it. That makes the english title Disposable Human. The lyrics are about politics, particulary the Conservative party how things are messed up in politics and it is too late to change any of that.
