Welcome to the 4th episode of Talks 4 Action. With our two distinguished guests, we will discuss Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in the context of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The new Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) is currently being discussed and will be negotiated in March, for adoption at COP 15 in Kunming. Are NbS, as long as diverse societal challenges, represented in the GBF? What are the linkages between disasters and their risks? How can the GBF be implemented?

Nature-based Solutions in the context of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)

Welcome to Talks 4 Action Episode 5!  

“Man is both creature and moulder of his environment, which gives him physical sustenance and affords him the opportunity for intellectual, moral, social and spiritual growth. In the long and tortuous evolution of the human race on this planet a stage has been reached when, through the rapid acceleration of science and technology, man has acquired the power to transform his environment in countless ways and on an unprecedented scale. Both aspects of man's environment, the natural and the man-made, are essential to his well-being and to the enjoyment of basic human rights the right to life itself.” (Stockholm Declaration, 1972) 

On the 2nd to the 3rd of June, #Stockholm+50 will commemorate the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment and celebrate 50 years of global environmental action. Nature-based solutions (NbS) have recently emerged as a key environmental action to address societal challenges. In this episode, we discuss some of the promises and pitfalls of NbS with a special spotlight on social equity, finance and scale.
