🌴 MELODICAST // Ewan Rill, Oliver & Tom & more Progressive House!

It isn’t uncommon for people to take a break from dance music and make a subsequent comeback, but not many people take a 15-year break in the Welsh wilderness then sign all 5 of their first completed productions to a prestigious imprint such as Bedrock. 

Up steps Aubrey Fry who has done just that, following the purplest of pandemic production patches during which time
all other pursuits had to be put on hold.

First came inclusion on John Digweed’s gargantuan 2021 Bedrock mix compilation sequel, Quattro II, with the track Hard featuring alongside contributions from luminaries including Robert Babicz, Josh Wink, Darren Emerson, Bushwacka!, Miles Atmospheric, and Quivver!

This was shortly followed by his first solo release for the label in May 2021 with the 4-track Dystopia EP, featuring the tracks, Nature,Tyrant,Topaz and Dystopia. The  EP successfully shows off the contrasting sides ofAubrey’s productions, with elements of breaks, techno, and electronica juxtaposed to great effect for audiophile listeners and dance floors alike.

Aubrey caught the DJing bug in 1996 after his mum bought him John Digweed’s seminal mix album, Renaissance:The Mix Collection, Part 2 as a Christmas present. That mix, alongside other genre-defining albums such as Carl Cox’s F.A.C.T cemented his love for beats and bleeps. However, now legendary mix albums weren’t his first window into dance music culture. Aubrey
had already been exposed to the scene for some years, with raves put on by Emotion, Obsession and Genesis, raves being held half a mile from his family home. He would often wander over in the dead of night and watch with fascination at the carnage being unleashed.

Consigned to DJing in his bedroom for many years, as is often the way,Aubrey eventually started to get to play out at the odd local free party. But it wasn't until he moved to Brighton that he properly cut his DJing teeth, with regular spots in clubs like the Ocean Rooms, Escape and Funky Buddha Lounge. He soon became a resident for hedonistic, multi-genre club night Stompaphunk, playing alongside fellow Brightonians of that era, like Serge Santiago, RadioSlave and David Parr as well as heavy hitter guests including Derrick Carter, Craig Richards and James Holden.

During his time in Brighton, which was a true hotbed for dance music at the time, he undertook a music technology course where, as well as learningthe skills he needed to start making his own music, he forged lots of industry contacts leading to subsequent work with Phil Hartnoll of Orbital, Thomas Gandey, Dino Psaras, Joti Sidhu, Juno Reactor, Sian Evans (Kosheen), Adam Freeland, and many others.

Reflecting his DJing heritage, Aubrey’s productions mirror his eclectic musical tastes, with forays into everything under the electronica umbrella, whilst always keeping one foot in the rave.

Aubrey records a regular weekly show on Mixcloud called ἐκλεκτικός which showcases the more eclectic side of DJing, with various genres and tempos all in the mix.

3rd Avenue proudly presents "Horizonts", the debut album from Peres. The Polish producer has been steadily making his mark on the label, starting with his debut on our We Are The Future compilation in 2023, followed by an appearance on last year's Three of a Kind EP, and regular releases on our Future Avenue sublabel.

Originally from Silesia and now based in Warsaw, Peres has built a strong reputation as both a DJ and producer. His signature sound blends progressive house with a touch of melodic house, infused with high-energy elements that set him apart. His sharp musical intuition has earned him club residencies and the opportunity to perform alongside industry heavyweights.

"Horizonts" is a 14-track journey that perfectly captures Peres' dynamic style, balancing deep grooves with atmospheric melodies. His ability to craft intricate soundscapes is evident throughout, making this album a must-hear for progressive house enthusiasts.

Peres first made waves with an EP on Aurium Recordings, run by Greg Benz, Marco Di Carlo, and Ebrius. His 2005 collaboration with Petersky, featuring Hallo Ladies and Silent Moment, gained support from icons like Tiesto, John Digweed, and Subsky.

With "Horizonts", Peres delivers an immersive listening experience that cements his place as one of the most exciting names in the progressive house scene.

Silinder - Delay Your Destiny

I'm just a small-town Canadian boy who loves music.

I started listening to electronic back in 2000 after my brother lent me some CDs for the summer from Sasha & Digweed, Moby, and Orbital. I got into the dance scene shortly after and found a strong connection to trance with DJs like Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, and Ferry Corsten, while making some incredible friendships along the way. 

My first attempts at any kind of mixing were late-night vinyl sessions with my roommate listening to some classic trance and house and eventually putting together a simple set-up on my Mac to make some mixes for my commute. I’ve always liked the idea of being able to create a sort of soundtrack to my day-to-day and admire my friends who’ve made a career out of it as they bring such a positive impact to the lives of so many. 

I’ve spent the better part of my adult life abroad - first in China and now in Italy - and music has always been something that keeps me grounded and focused.
