Mattias Fridell, already involved into the techno scene since the 1990s is almost working like a machine. His releases on labels like Gynoid Audio, Eshu, Audio Assault and many others displaying a very creative output. With "Artificial Personality Layer" Fridell delivers his first full-lenght Affin EP, after appearing on Chris Page's "Used" EP with a superb remix. Listening to this 4 tracker, it is obvious that he's dealing with a lot of influences that hit him over this period producing electronic music. So this EP can be filed as a statement of continuousness of Fridells ingredients of sound. Enjoy!

[Suara 078] Innakat (aka Noir) - Grab Somebody (Dosem Remix) Snippet

Having provided a platform for many of our new artists to showcase their talents, for TEC071 we welcome back a producer who has been a key member of our label family since his 2008 release, 'Crysis'.  Since then, Sweden's John Andersson aka Zoo Brazil has also featured on the label with his 2010 single 'Match' and his mighty 2011 release 'Slob'. A track that, backed by its super strong Nick Curly remix, went on to feature in charts throughout the year. 

In his typical no-holds-barred fashion, Zoo Brazil's latest SCI+TEC smash, 'Cut Boots', hits hard and heavy with its stomping tribal beats. Its electronic march is enhanced and graced by the beauty of its youthful vocals. On the remix we welcome back Canadian duo The Junkies who, fresh from releases on Rawthentic and Octopus, take 'Cut Boots' into deeper and darker territory with a perfect 4am soundtrack.

The remix of Zombie Disco Squad for Kolombo & Loulou Players's "Don't Go Away" was the Suara's best seller of 2012. So we couldn't lose the chance to have ZDS on board again. In his first EP with the kitties, he offer us three different tunes where shows his large variety of sounds. "Late Night London Loefer" is a marvellous house track with a killer melody. "Drink" keeps the line of his old Suara remix thanks to a mind-blowing bassline and very effective vocal cuts. Last but not least "Werkk" is very close to the current UK house bass sound and is the deepest cut of the EP.

[Suara 081] Zombie Disco Squad - Drink (Original Mix) Snippet

Adam Beyers unique vision of The Afterparty uses phased percussion, tripped out drums and an ethereal like pad and melody to create a stand out remix that blends together two unique ideas momentously. Ben Klock steps up to take on The Afterparty too with the sound ever so synonymous with him. He uses rhythmic stabs and an unusual melody that works so well within the atmospheric landscape he has created. Joseph Capriatis remix of Can you feel it is a funky techno track that uses stabs to really build a solid groove that will be a sure fire hit. The Sandwell District remix of I Feel it Deep uses the original vocal in an ambient journey with pads and percussion to tell a story. Alan Fitzpatrick yet again doesnt disappoint with his remix of Riots in London that uses delayed stabs and a rolling bass line to construct another dark peak time player. Jerome Sydenhams Carbon Dub of Smoke and Mirrors is heavily dynamic and uses a piano chord and the original vocal to create an energetic vibe. Cari Lekebusch remix of Bullet uses a phased underlying melody to really drive the track forward before the bleep melody is introduced later into the track. Jeromes Looking Glass Dub also of Smoke and Mirrors uses a throbbing bass line to power through the early hours of the morning with the use of the delayed vocal and rhythmic hi hats creating a funky techno groove.

In honesty we can't believe we made it this far,we thought we would be dead or in jail by now.Started with 50 bucks and a pipe dream,Octopus has grown into one of the top 5 selling Techno labels on Beatport in the last two years.Refusing management deals and buy ins along the way,we are proud to be truly independent.We wanted to rock the balls off everyone on the 50th release so we went all out.Label boss enfant terrible Sian put brains in unison with label boffin Chris and they came up with a package that has one setting,kill.Sian buried himself in his black cube of a studio in Barcelona and hammered out his toughest and most adventurous tracks yet.Both ¨the Police man inside you¨ and ¨Famous child actor ¨have a main room swagger that has become very evident in the Octopus catalogue.Wonked out bass and cerebral vocal lines,dark synth waves and production like polished chrome..its a sound very typical of his high energy DJ sets,showcasing what the label stands proudly representing,classic modern techno.Ambivalent always struck us as a standout USA artist,if only for his refusal to repeat his easily successful formula with mega smash tracks on Minus,he is constantly reinventing and swoops between Techno and House with immense bravado.His mix is moody,ravey and dips its wick in acid on the way through a brain melting 6 mins.Sam Paganini has been a long time cohort of the label,recently he sky rocketed on labels like Drumcode and Cocoon but keeps his basement rave sensibilities in check always.Spanking hot drums and sleek gliding breaks,he rounds off the package with full force Italian dance floor magic.

Techno at it&#8217;s finest ! This is exactly the case with this release on Respekt Recordings by the label bosses Spektre! The original mix of &#8216;Erase The Tapes&#8217; builds with the trademark by Spektre while smooth dark drums and atmospheric elements are all over in this techno journey. The remix by Jon Rundell uses a hard drum loop providing by a smooth bassline. At the end Luigi Madonna takes control and that works just right in keeping the techno groove going. Not too much to say for this monster release by Spektre.

Rino Cerrone, the Master, marks another success, and he does it through his historical Loose Records label, with a co-­‐project in cooperation with the Columbian Dee Jay, Promoter and Producer Deraout, already famous in South America and on the international recording industries, thanks to his releases and remix with labels such as: Attary Records, Sleaze Records, Roadtrip Recordings. During his tour in Colombia, Rino cooperated in studio with Jaun where they produced “Something’s Raining”, an EP formed by two original tracks and a Stanny Franssen & Soren Aalberg remix. The first artist, also known as G – Force, historic Belgian producer, known for his projects on labels such as Cocoon and Harthouse, while Soren Alberg Danish producer, soon emerges on the electronic scene and up to date has already collected important releases on labels such as Bedrock and MB Elektronics.
The first track of this project is then “Something’s Raining” which carries the same name of the EP. A mix characterised by warm frequencies and very deep drum elements, where the drum is marked, the bass riff is pretty twisted, making a very homogeneous track line. The rhythmic of the track is pushed by an accurate Synth elaborated in the background, nearly a sort of mood Ambient but at the same time endowed with an explosive Techno charge. “Waiting For The Ufo” is the second step of this journey and actually we are nearly facing an introspective adventure starting from a rigorous drum, a sort of beating machine to end in a spatial Synth, everything surrounded by warm bass. The track has a Dark Techno mark where everything moves around the most obscure sense of music, where sinister vibrations and hallucinating effect play a fundament role for the listener.
Stanny Franssen and Soren Aalberg twistly remix “Waiting For The Ufo, and actually the two producers give a sort of old school touch to this track. Springy bass and Hi Hats rush, incessantly wildly flow, as they would not stop. The drum stays on the logic line of the original version but what gives an original touch to this single is its Synth, goading on Detroit style chords bringing the all mix to a disarming pause. The restart describes all the power of this track, dark lights, closed eyes; it’s time for Old School Techno.
Once again the label Boss confirms himself as a conceptual artist, always able to amaze the listeners and back up with ingenious co-­‐operators and high quality remixers. That’s Loose Records!
