Angel from Montgomery - John Prine
Prine is widely regarded as one of the most influential songwriters. Sadly he died in April 2020 of Covid aged 73. This song was included in his first album called John Prine (1971). A version by Bonnie Raitt was included on her 1974 album Streetlights  became a major hit.

Stevie Windwood. 
This song first appeared on the Blind Faith album (1969), featuring Steve Winwood, (ex Traffic), Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker (Ex Cream), and Ric Grech (Ex Family). The group split after a few months, producing only the one album and a three-month long summer tour. I was attracted to the song by a version by Bonnie Raitt.

Old Habits Die Hard" is a song from the 2004 remake of the movie Alfie, with music by David Stewart and lyrics by Mick Jagger. It was performed by Jagger. It won the 2005 Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song.

Whistling Gipsy Rover Leo Maguire
This ballad was composed by Dublin songwriter Leo Maguire in the 1950s. It is the happy ending version of the traditional ‘Wraggle Taggle Gipsies’. It has been recorded by numerous artists, including The Corries, Carmel Quinn, The Kingston Trio, The Highwaymen (who had a minor hit single with the song), The Lime liters, The Seekers, Foster & Allen and The Wiggles. My own version is from the Clancy Brothers.

Johnnie O Braidisle ( Johnie Cock , Jock O'Breadisley), is a traditional Scottish folk ballad. It listed as the 114th Child Ballad collection. My version is based on a recording made in 1951 by Alex Lomax of  an Aberdeenshire farmer named, John Strachan (1875–1958) a well-known singer of Bothy Ballads.  It was included in an album of Lomax’s source recordings called Heather and Glen which I bought when 16 years old. The guitar accompaniment  I developed at the time owed so much to Marvin Gaye 's hit 'Heard through the Grapevine' I could not help added a verse.
