This eighth album by Nikita Tselovalnikov is a compilation of what has survived the great ant invasion of his hard drive in Mexico. Never too precious about his music, the producer doesn't believe in backups: Some music remained on flash drives though, and now it is ready to see the light. Seven brand new and fairly recent tracks plus the mega hit 'Flying Rabbits' are laying the groundwork for the new Penta sound and are a prelude of what is yet to come.

Hard Drive Malfunction

After five artist albums and countless releases on compilations, Penta's EP, "Numbers" comes at the beginning of the 10th year of Penta as the psy trance project. These two tracks are mathematical in nature with the first one - "Binary" bringing Nikita Tselovalnikov back to his melodic style of early years and the second one "Random Number (Live Mix)" exploring the possibility of making music on the fly, with the help of Ableton Live. That track, which maybe not as polished as other Penta's tracks, transmits a sense of spontaneity, otherwise unachievable with traditional linear methods of producing music. Both tracks are suitable for the hottest time of a party.

It's been called the worst track of the year on Isratrance forum, yet somehow this is the most requested track that I play. At the last parties in Russia and Ukraine, somebody would come up to me each 5 minutes with words "Neo Cheesy" written on a mobile phone screen. I thought I could just play that track, and go home  :-) Who cares, if I have tons of unreleased tracks at the moment, right?
Anyhow, I am giving this beast away. Written just in time for our honeymoon in Israel, this is a remix of the most popular Jewish folk harvest song. ... And it is available here in WAV quality. Enjoy! Nikita 

Penta - Neo Cheezy

Up until this point only heard live and on Penta's Live Set Mix at Ozora Festival, this 2011 piece used to be called "Once-a-year Dubstep", but I felt the name didn't make much sense, since I am not making dubstep, certainly not once-a-year. Besides, this is mostly trance. "Meow" is actually the original name of the track, so here we go. Releasing this track on SoundCloud since I was never satisfied with this rough mix and the hard drive died shortly.

I was thinking of remixing a track by my old-time favorite Slovenian band Laibach for a long time. Opportunity came when I had a few days to kill in August of 2010. Achtung! was a pretty clear choice for me as this track was already a dance hit. I just thought that I could reinterpret it for the trance dance floor. I haven't messed a lot with re-arranging the vocals, as this track was powerful enough and straightforward from the beginning. I hope you enjoy...

Having played in more than thirty countries around the world, appearing repeatedly in every major festival such as Boom, Voov, Universo Paralello, Full Moon and Burning Man, Nikita has gained reputation as one of the pioneers and innovators in the psytrance world. Being identified with darkpsy, full-on and progressive genres at the same time, Penta’s unique futuristic sound has brought together people of different scenes into one swirling psychedelic dance. You will find Penta’s tracks on dozens of compilations as well as seven albums – “Pentafiles”, “Funraiser”, “Horn Please”, “Portuguese Abduction”, “Give MeFive!”, “All Shots Double”, “Swirlscape”, and "Hard Drive Malfunction".
