This week’s release features a gripping half  hour-long mix by Paris based artist Aho Ssan (@ahossan). Well versed in a variety of the arts, Aho Ssan's journey with composing electronic music and creating his own digital instruments eventually led to the release of his highly acclaimed debut LP 'Simulacrum'. His style is undeniably rich and expressive, while leaving plenty of space for the emotional narrative that is woven into his sound design.

Valley Radio 063 is comprised of not only his own work but that of other pioneers, including sound from the newest release by Valley Family member Ziúr (@ziurinhell).

In spring of 2020, we were first introduced to the singular sounds of producer, visual artist and filmmaker HAJJ. It was his release for Brothers From Different Mothers that pricked our ears; the cocktail of experimental frameworks, dubstep whispers and dark ambience was something completely his own.

Marking his debut EP, prior to this his tracks had found their way to compilations for Abîme and In Paradisium - the latter a double-sided cassette linked to his Souffrance radio show which is a regular fixture on Lyl Radio. On top of his own productions and radio transmissions, HAJJ is the mind behind Dawn Records who, since 2010, have shared music from Renart, vOPhoniQ, Art Crime and more.

Perfectly suited to soundtrack weird Wednesday, HAJJ offers up a mind-expanding mix of mutating electronics, twisting from ominous soundscapes to leftfield club cuts and dubstep variations.

q. is there a story behind the mix? how did it come together?

I usually have a rough outline of what i want to include, it's always fun to combine a few textures and styles to see what works together and to end up beatmatching some more traditional club stuff that also fits in stylistically 🦥

q. in your opinion, what would be the ideal circumstances to enjoy your mix? 

I had a listen the other day while watching the scenery through the window of a moving train

q. describe a favorite object in your living room... 

I have a few pictures and art prints that my grandparents had in their house, they remind me of their old place, plus it's nice to give something a new lease of life.

q. are you working on any projects right now (music or not music)?
