There’s a lot of amazing things aligning here with this premiere.  First off, it’s new material from Klaxons. This alone is momentous as they were essentially one of the first acts to really take off in blog culture almost 10 years ago and have even had trends based on them in the UK.  Basically, they broke the internet before there was such a thing.  Second, there are some serious names affiliated with this new material that’s supposed to be presented as a new album in the Spring.  The album appears to be steered in some part by Tom Rowlands (1/2 of the Chemical Brothers…HELLO) and the one and only James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem, DFA Records).  These facts alone have me geeked as they are two of my bigger influences in all of dance music.  Third, this premiere.  Word is Gorgon City produced the original and Claptone, who’s been on fire in the disco house realm for some time, took this to the deep house stratosphere.  So essentially this whole project seems crazy and I’m officially now on pins and needles waiting for more to drop.

The six piece collective claims to have its Kibbutz somewhere in the Aegean Sea. Sirens Of Lesbos aka SOL (Sun in Spanish) have a serious, noble goal: They want to spread mantras – musically uplifting and spiritually meaningful songs that inspire you to embrace life in all its forms; that make you dance in your fantasy or in the real world. American Men’s Fashion Magazine GQ recently picked the track as one of the best 25 songs of the summer 2014. From Ibiza to beyond – it is an amazing start for this unknown act from Greece who call their sound “Fantasy Music” and dedicate this record to DJ Alfredo – master of the Balearic Beat. Watch out for these 2 new remixes by Claptone & Fred Falke and the outstanding official music video filmed by Canada and directed by Nicolas Mendez (who shot the the video for El Guincho - Bombay & Battles - Ice Cream feat. Matias Aguayo and was nominated for best cinematography in a video at UK Music Video Awards 2011).

In the last 2 and a half years James Curd has become a regular contributor to the label Exploited. 1. James Curd - Forever My Friend
"After spending a couple months scoring a feature film I wanted to blow off some steam and make something I would like to play in a club. I love throwing curve balls into songs and try to imagine what a crowded club will do when a 16 bar rhodes solo comes out of nowhere. It's my version of a build up and drop with out the soft synths."

2. James Curd - Jack Be Nimble
"I made this song during a late night studio session right after a night out. It's a homage to my hometown classic Chicago house tracks of JACK. It's an inebriated lyrical session that captures how much fun I was having in the studio that night."

3. James Curd - Tornado In The Basement feat. JDub
"This was written in my old Chicago basement studio with JDub. All the kids in my neighbourhood were around the same age and growing up together. They all graduated from riding bikes and playing in the fire hydrant to an all out EGG war. Every house on my street was getting hit with eggs! Tornado In The Basement is a product of trying to record vocals inbetween the loud bangs of eggs hitting the front windows of my building."

4. James Curd - Everybody Knows feat. Jonty Hall
"This song is a culmanation of a few ideas that where not working as individual songs but came together great as a mosaic piece of music. I chopped up all my favorite parts from a few songs and combined them to create "Everybody Knows". A great horn player from Australias capital city Canberra was in town visiting and he dropped by and did a few takes for me to finish off the song."

5. James Curd - Caught Again feat. JDub
"This is inspired by old French funk songs from the 70's. I wanted a mix of funk with light and dark elements. The bass is funk, the guitar and synths are light and JDub's vocals are dark and a bit intimidating."

Brazilian-born Joyce Muniz immersed herself in the world of electronic music after moving to Austria at the age of 12. By the age of 16, she purchased her first 1212s and became one of Vienna’s youngest DJs. When the raw and pulsating sounds of Brazilian dance music baile funk infiltrated European house and techno, Muniz connected with her origins by providing vocals for Viennese producer Stereotyp. Solidifying her stance as a multitalented artist and MC, Muniz satisfied her craving to produce by diving deep into house music, carving out her own niche through a smooth-yet-funky sound often complimented by sultry vocals and thumping basslines. 

’An early coup for Exploited was 2011's 'Morning Love', Muniz's collaboration with Louie Austen. An old school Viennese crooner who'd worked alongside the rat pack in Las Vegas, he'd risen to prominence again after the turn of the millennium, alongside the likes of Peaches and Gonzalez, on the crest of electroclash. With his lived-in vocals riding a spacey house groove punctuated by snippets of breakbeats, Austen was so impressed with Muniz that he asked her to produce his next album.

This mutual respect was to arise again in the shape of Maya Jane Coles, who helped get Muniz's music into the hands of 20:20 Vision, so far resulting in two Eps. Then Richie Hawtin got hold of an unreleased track and played it on his Ibiza Boiler Room. “I really was wondering how Richie Hawtin got it!” Joyce said. Still, got it he had, leaving just the clearance of its Kraftwerk sample from 'It's More Fun to Compute' and the addition of a vocal by ex-Jungle Brother Bam, for the modern day hip-house of 'Back in the Days' to become a hit for Exploited last year.’ (DJMag) Not to forget her collaboration track ’Warriors’ with Bpitch longstay Kiki or her recent remix of Traffic Signs aka Steve Bug and Jake the Rapper’s ’Cookie Jar’.

Her next release ’You Always Get Me High’ will drop on Exploited in May.

The single breaks new ground for Claptone as he delves deeper into songwriting. This time he is reunited with French singer Jaw (1/3 of production trio dOP) with whom he previously worked on ’No Eyes’, a big record for him back in 2013 on the notorious Berlin House label Exploited. The masked figure recently shared teaser 'The Music Got Me', the first taste of the album and a track which went on to reach the top 5 on Beatport’s deep house chart, as did B-side Forest of Love. Fresh from hitting their first festival of the summer at Valencia’s Festival de les Arts this weekend, The Wombats can now unveil enigmatic producer Claptone’s remix of ‘Be Your Shadow’. The original version of  ‘Be Your Shadow’ is set to impact on June 22nd and features on the band’s current album ‘Glitterbug’ which hit #5 in the UK and #2 in Australia. 

Claptone's remixes for the likes of Metronomy, Pet Shop Boys, Klaxons and Gregory Porter have all been chosen because he feels an affinity with the original artist. This is evident throughout Claptone’s imaginative reinventions as he relishes translating such songs for the dance floor.

His interpretation of ‘Be Your Shadow’ strips the song back to basics before progressively rebuilding the track towards a heightened crescendo of sound. Throughout, Claptone expertly weaves beats and atmospheric soundscapes around The Wombats’ frontman Matthew ‘Murph’ Murphy’s melodic vocal delivery. 

Claptone has worked hard to maintain his position as a consistently innovative global influencer. His big news for 2015 comes with his highly anticipated debut artist album, the campaign for which commenced when the track ‘The Music Got Me’ was picked as Pete Tong’s Miami Essential New Tune. ‘The Music Got Me’ and another new production ‘Dear Life’ subsequently stormed to the top of the Beatport charts. Lush filter sweeps, twinkling keys and powerful bass are order of the day here as the producer works his magic on one of the sunniest grooves we've heard this year. "Return" keeps that outdoor terrace flavour but plunges us deep into the twilight, tribal drums and deep electronics locking us into its hypnotic recess. A golden scooped beak slowly emerges from the darkness. Claptone is bringing us ‘Charmer’, his first artist album.

In the last few years Claptone has become known for releasing big tracks primed for late nights and packed clubs all over the world. ‘Charmer’ however fuses his signature house sound with a more eclectic aesthetic, featuring guest appearances from Nathan Nicholson (The Boxer Rebellion), Jimi Tenor, Young Galaxy, Jay-Jay Johanson and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah amongst others.

He today shares introductory track ‘Puppet Theatre’ ft. Peter, Bjorn and John, a collaboration which offers a glimpse of the depth to be found when peeling back the layers of ‘Charmer’.

The album will drop following a packed summer touring schedule which reaches all corners of the globe and it follows the run-away success of Claptone's remix for Gregory Porter, a tune which dominates Ibiza this year and has been the biggest selling track on Beatport for months on end.


The album also features ‘Dear Life’ and ‘The Music Got Me’ as well the early singles ‘No Eyes’ and ‘Ghost’, both enormous smashes on essential Berlin house label Exploited.

Claptone will be holding album launch parties all over the planet in the coming months kicking off with a special showcase at W Amsterdam on the eve of release during Amsterdam Dance Event.
‘Charmer’ is set for release on 16/10/15 on Different Recordings (the label that launched the careers of Crystal Castles, Tiga, Crystal Fighters, Vitalic).
