AMÉMÉ Returns With Fifth Fantastic Release of 2022

The ever evolving artist's “Power” EP is the first release on his newly relaunched One Tribe Records.

Emerging West African artist AMÉMÉ continues to have a standout year in 2022 with his fifth superb original release. “Power” comes hot on the heels of his recent single “Pliva”, his collaboration with Jamie Jones, and once again breathes new life into his signature Afro House sound.

Hubert Amémé Sodogandji aka AMÉMÉ splits his time between Brooklyn and Berlin, and draws on his cultural heritage and world travels as the inspiration for his work by incorporating rich eclectic grooves, tribal percussion and spiritual vocals. He has landed on labels like Crosstown Rebels, Armada, Cercle Records, and Nic Fanciulli’s Saved Records, and has found support from influential names such as Black Coffee and Diplo. After a breakout year in 2021, this year he has continued to establish himself as a key player on the world stage by hosting a panel and playing various shows at Ibiza’s acclaimed International Music Summit, as well as at world-renowned festivals such as Burning Man, BPM Festival, Coachella and many others.  

First up on this new package is the title track ”Power” featuring Mario Reyes. The track delivers fizzing synth stabs, a hard hitting beat that makes you want to shake your every limb, and enthralling vocals by Reyes. “Never Forget” with Kosmo Kint is another full flavour house track with African drum patterns and rich synth designs. It is peppered with toms and shakers and Kosmo Kint’s spoken words over the undulating beat evoke real depth. Last of all is ”Conga Mongo” a track that gets the hairs standing on end thanks to its scintillating vocals and drums. The bold synths add real scale and make for a most majestic groove.  

This new EP is another life-enriching offering from AMÉMÉ that cements his position right at the forefront of the exciting Afro House revolution.

Plano B celebrates their 8th birthday with a new release from Ikaro Grati - Down Memory Lane.

Ikaro says "This track explains the nostalgic moments that both adults and young adolescents can experience. By using a melancholic synth, I try to bring back those childhood memories. In combination with the bells and the light percussion, I try to maintain the 'floating moment'. The lyrics explain almost everything. Remember the things we did when we were young. Boys went out to play and fell out of trees while the early maternal instinct of girls kept them safe at home. Sometimes we are overwhelmed with all kinds of responsibilities that life offers us. People need to remember to enjoy life and not to rush things too much. But maybe we are not always ready for that? For us, the solution to a temporary escape from reality, is recollecting our stories from the old days. Reflecting on moments of the past can take a second, a minute or even a whole day. For me it takes a song in this case."

On remix duties for today's premiere, we find Sonic Future and Sanio & Zarth, who intensify the vibe, and add a more percussive swagger to grace the vocal loops and emotive smile inducing breakdown'.
