I wrote this laid-back soul groove with my pal Gijs Knol. We call ourselves BATTERY LIFE and we enjoy creating both soulful hip-hop grooves and 80s-inspired songs.

Demo 5 - The Time We Had

An acoustic song about memories of love. 

I wrote this song back in 2015 while in London. I was obsessed with the Beatles and the idea of writing something simple. This song is all about that special someone you once knew. A story of love in the past. 

Like the other songs I’ve been releasing, its part of my songwriting process - sharing demos to showcase the songs I write.

Here's an easy song for troubled times. On a calm winter’s day I wrote Blue Mountains with a strange desire for peace and nature.

Demo 8 - It's Easy To be Near You

A jazz ballad inspired by my favorite songs from the American Songbook. 💫

"It's Easy To Be Near You" is a simple tune about that wonderful feeling when you're near someone you love. An easy feeling. I wrote this one with a special someone in mind. Recorded with vocals and guitar. 

I hope to release an album with songs like this one day. Hopefully with fitting arrangements and production. A sweet sounding album complete with original jazz songs - a dream of mine!

Demo 9 - Nature Calling

A song inspired by autumn and a video game. 

"Nature Calling" is an intimate song I wrote, recorded and finished in a single weekend. It was a little songwriting challenge and the inspiration came from an unexpected place. 

While playing a video game I got triggered by the sounds from the menu screen. A soft choir was singing in the background and I starting humming along. I couldn't resist and started writing. Then came this dreamy song with melodic synth, spacious pads and improv vocals.
