False Awakening Score

You know all those songs that think they tell about "the one that got away" when in real they tell about "that one really really short relationship"? Well, this tale I wrote a while back tells of the ones who really get away.

Lyrics:


He was a basic bartender
With cute curly hair
She was a happy tourist
Durnk enough to flirt and stare

She orded watermelon margaritas
(or martinis?)
Well I guess it doesn’t matter
He made them taste like sweeties

They shared a couple of words
Just a couple of warm smiles
A couple of those looks
And a couple of playful eyes

And when she had to go,
He ran out and stopped her
Gave her a piece of paper
With a cute note and a number

It said: ”I like you soooo much”

There was a boy from Barcelona
And a girl from a land far away
They met at a crep bar
And that’s the end,
I’m afraid there not much more to say

The girl thought ”Why not!”
And sent him an SMS
But the days went by
And like you might guess

The boy, he didn’t write or call
Did not send her a word
She was a little bit confused
At least that’s what I’ve heard

Later on the girl
Was still filled with doubt
What if he never got the text?
She had to find out,

So she called the number
What, it’s not in use? Oh no!
The boy forgot to tell her
Barcelona’s area code

The boy forgot about the girl
And went on with his life
Most likely setteled down
Has found a pretty wife

The girl? Who knows where she might be!
Most likely on the road
Yet somehow she still remembers him,
Or that’s what I’ve been told

And Indeed, this time
this really is the end
It only was a ”could’ve been”
In the land of playing pretend

But maybe there will be a day

A somewhat old song... Don't judge the harmonica and the beatboxing, I'm still learning! The inspiration came from a buddhist legend about this Hungry Ghost -being that always eats but never feels full or satisfied. (http://www.hitrecord.org/records/1315506)

Hungry Ghost Corporation

A couple of months ago, the amazing Joseph Ruddleston wrote a beautiful song in French, "Adieu!", and I was so inspired by it that I wanted to try writing something in French, too. I came up with this little tune, and Joe was kind enough to sing it with me as a duet! I also got a lot of help with the lyrics from my dear French friend Marilou :)

Moments

Before picking up piano, guitar and ukulele, Helsinki-born indie-pop artist Peppina was a classically trained flutist. Listening to Regina Spektor, Feist, Stevie Wonder and David Bowie, Peppina found her influences. During high school she discovered hitRECord, founded by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who then invited Peppina to play in Los Angeles for hitRECord’s television special.
