Title track “Unwind” stays true to its name, with soulful guitar chords and breezy flute drifting on a R&B beat. On “Unwind,” Saib’s anime soundtrack influences are evident. Lush strings combine to create a sound expansive as a film score yet intimate at the core. A samba drum groove speeds up the beat, shifting what began as mellow and contemplative into a danceable jam. “Unwind” is a sonic spa session, invoking a state of calm and leaving w/ an uplifting note. 2014 marks the ten year anniversary of my compilation "Rio Baile Funk Favela Booty Beats" which was originally released on CD (and limited edition 12" vinyl) on Essay Recordings in August 2004 (Cat Nr. Ay 04).

When released, "Rio Baile Funk Favela Booty Beats" was the first compilation to introduce the mad beats from Rio´s hillside slums, the favelas, to a global audience. Baile Funk took the world by storm and the compilation received wide critical acclaim. 

Fifteen years later, the compilation is widely considered as the major international reference and compilation of baile funk featuring the biggest tunes of the genre from the early 00s. 

Today, the genre is still in full bloom and has diversified in various sub-genres such as funk ostentação, proibidão, rasterinha amongst others. Also, it has been adapted by many gringo producers from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, which fused elements of baile funk with trap, house, electro and various bass music genres.

This mix features the original compilation in a continuous mix.

Daniel Haaksman -  Rio Baile Funk Favela Booty Beats (2004)

Originally recorded in 1979 in Paris but only released independently in Brazil in 1981, Fernando Falcão´s "Curimão" was released on the "Memória Das Aguas" album. Originally a much sought after record, it was re-released by Selva Discos in 2019.

Its mastermind, Fernando Falcão, left Brasil in 1968 during the peak of military dictatorship and moved to France, where he lived in exile for 15 years. There, after working in music, acting, and sculpting, he involved himself in Jérôme Savary's legendary Grand Magic Circus, where he met his first wife, Valérie Kling. It was from this relationship that a partnership began between the musician and his father-in-law, the artist François-Xavier Lalanne, who guided Falcão in the process of inventing sound sculptures such as the balauê – a horizontal version of the berimbau string instrument whose sound was influenced by a water stream (since there was a hose soaking parts of the balauê wet during the performances). Much of this exploration and experimentation resulted in the album "Memória das Águas", from which "Curimão" stems from.

A long time fan of Fernando Falcão´s music, Daniel Haaksman now enhanced „Curimão“ with heavy bass and turned this rare groove into a club friendly DJ track. It´s #1 in the "More Black Atlantica Edits" series which will kick off on Man Recordings in Janaury. It´s predecessor, "Black Atlantica Edits" was released on BBE records early 2020.

گروه کمل داستانی دراز دارد ،این گروه ایرلندی الاصل كه آن را در زمره (راك  پیشرو)  و حتی  بهترین این دسته قرار می دهند ،با سه نوازنده بلوز به نام های اندرو لاتیمر (خواننده و گیتاریست) داگ فرگوسن(گیتار باس) و اندی وارد(درامر) به همراه چهره شناخته شده بلوز انگلستان پیتر باردنز در 1972 شكل گرفت. هیچ یك از اعضاء به یاد ندارند چه زمان و به چه علت چنین نامی را برای گروه خود برگزیدند.آنها نوایی را كه گروه Caravan در روزهای اوج خود داشت را با اولین آلبوم خود با نام Camel گسترش دادند: آلبومی دلنشین ،شكل یافته از قطعات گوناگون با رنگ و بویی جز گونه در سطح بالای خود. گروه با ارائه آلبوم های بعدی خود با نامهای (سراب)1974 و (غاز برفی) 1975 گام به مسیری پیشرفته گذارد.
