Change Up!

My arrangement of the Sugarhill Gang's "Apache" (Jump On It). Made it just for fun and as a simple easy cadence that anyone could play. I claim no rights to the original song and intend no copyright infringement. It features a break for each instrument (including cymbals!) which can be played in any order or as many times as the performer wishes.

Overall not a very difficult cadence that is the start of a series of street beats I plan to right. This one was written for my high school which is why it is called Ranchview Street Beat.

Sticky Street Beat

This cadence features a slight off-putting but groovy piece that varies between 7/8 and 9/8. I wanted to challenge myself to writing for a time signature which wasn't the just the traditional street beat. The title just was inspired by a note left by my dad and the abbreviation just represents to unfinished feeling that 7/8 can have. Image credit goes to http://mattresstown.com/Home%20Accents.html

Gone Fishin'

Definitely something different than I normally write, this cadence/warmup is for advanced players. It features a wide range of time signatures in 16 and was inspired by simply picking random numbers for the numerator in each measure's time signature and then simply writing to it. Much of it was just working with the time signatures. The name comes both from the varying time signature and that the entire piece is 60 seconds. Enjoy!

Time Twister 60

My first non-drumline composition featuring the a 4.5 marimba and a standard vibraphone. It starts out with the main melody and adds to the theme then going into a slower ballad section. The middle faster section is meant to be lively and then comes back to end with the main melody.

Medieval

Similar to my other Texas Twister 60, this one was a challenge by my director who wanted me to write a cadence based up a 2-1-4 pattern. The entire piece is written in 10/16 time and starts off as a simply pattern but develops in a much more difficult, off-putting section which all then goes back to the original theme in the end. The name is the name, 'cause that's just what its named.

Cadence Series

This cadence is my longest yet, and is centered around a main groove that I wrote while eating toast with butter (hence the name). It was commissioned by Ranchview High School is Irving, TX and is simpler than my other compositions so as to be easy to learn but fun to play. The tempo is 116 so it can be used for a parade and with multiple repeated sections, the performers can make it last as long as they want. Enjoy!!!
