2020 was a year when we all needed beams of light at the end of the longest, darkest tunnel the world had found itself in decades. Instinctively, the Selador community rose to the challenge, none more so than Kiz Pattison & Micah, whose collaborative debut was a massive breakout tune from our Tenth Chapter showcase EP.

As DJ streams and dancing on impromptu dancefloors at home became the norm, Beam of Light became a regular feature in many a lockdown soundtrack, a major tune for the likes of Sasha, Anthony Pappa and of course our own directorship, Seaman & Parry. So with the vaccines arolling, club and festival dates being firmed up in our diaries and that beam of light seemingly growing brighter by the day, what better way to celebrate than with a top drawer remix package?

Booom! We are delighted to welcome Brazils techno don Renato Cohen back to Selador. Here he zeros in on the first of the original mixs killer hooks, the 80s styled motif that starts and ends the track, and builds an electro throbber that sounds like the Human League through a sparkling rave filter.

Oooof! Kiz & Micah then themselves deliver a new take, the 4am Dub, a darker, moodier interpretation of their original, showing off their deeper tendencies, like a big sister luring you over to the darker recesses of the dancefloor.

Pow! Long-time friend of Selador Robert Babicz, takes the hook from the originals showpiece drop and delivers a low slung breaks driven re-rub custom made for all you dubwise bass bin lurkers. And theres more its a Babicz double drop as he tenders an ambient mix that gives all those magical synth layers maximum room to breathe, gently building on the breeze.

Kerching! Were not finished yet! Its VFM time as Kiz and Micah deliver a brand new bonus track, the afroacidtechfunk workout that is The Key. Not to be missed, this beauty deserves its own moment in the spotlight, twisting and turning its way to instant earworm central.

And there you have it, the futuress so bright we gotta wear shades.

Enchanted Kids is an electronic music duo based in India that’s lead by Savan Ukande and Jayesh Varade. In 2021, they will release their debut EP with Minds Alike along with the multi-talented vocalist Emily Zuzik. 
 
Their sizzling single “Lucid” is driven by the lush vocals of Emily which are perfectly complemented by uplifting piano chords and melodic pads. A song that can be explored in many different settings and moods.
 
Bodai, Death on the Balcony, Ella Romand, and Swann Decamme also make their strong debuts on the label with stunning remixes that provide plenty of dance floor electricity.

MAR013 - Enchanted Kids Feat Emily Zuzik - Lucid (Death on the Balcony Remix)

Argentinian artist Nicolas Rada is a mainstay at the busiest clubs and festivals in Buenos Aries, as well as appeared on numerous top tier labels including Get Physical, The Soundgarden, Balance, Sincopat and many others. His moody and introspective productions are a perfect fit for Do Not Sit, and we welcome him with his EP, 'Goliardo'. Both the title tack and 'Condor' engulf the listener in audible melancholy, each covering a range of pensive and brooding harmonies.

An Argentinean duo with over a decade's experience in the Progressive House scene, Jose Duque and Bruno Signorelli have seen their music feature on such esteemed imprints as Higher States, Mango Alley and Balkan Connection, with their Abity production moniker. Debuting on Particles with their "Memories" EP, "Horizons" is a delicate rhythmic gem that trips along with woodblock percussion and deep kick. Reverb-drenched vocal washes and flowing motifs add melodic character as a rich bass groove adds weight and dancefloor appeal post-breakdown. "Move" continues the bassline cadence as light melodies shimmer across the mid-range. Counterpoint phrases add further charm as white-noise passages filter across the stripped back mid-point. Full of hypnotic poise, it is the perfect pause before the powerful "Beyond" makes its presence felt with rippling arpeggio and emotive piano sequence. A trademark bassline adds force and weight as a spine-tingling melodic progression is carried along by a strong beat and rolling percussive groove before a searing synth lead makes a play in the third movement.

A high-profile artist with releases on the likes of All Day I Dream, Vapour Recordings, and Hoomidaas, Mass Digital is an established producer with well over 500 production credits to his name. Making his debut in mid-2010, the Serbian star now makes his first appearance on Particles with a gorgeous reworking of "Beyond". Familiar melodic lines weave their way through the 7-minute piece while an effortlessly rolling percussive groove meanders across the top line. Stunning new piano sequences and synth phrasing emerge from the Mass Digital production repertoire as the remix blossoms in shimmering new directions post-breakdown whilst remaining firmly rooted in Abity's original sound.

Veterans of the underground house scene, Blood Groove and Kikis are well known to the Particles faithful with a series of remixes dating back to 2015 and a reworking of GMJ's "Silent Love". Interpretations of Nikko.Z, Andre Sobota and East Café have all since followed as the Latvian duo now return with a second remix of 2021. Taking a typically mellifluous approach to their music, Blood Groove & Kikis have developed "Move" into a smooth flowing track that shifts easily within the themes laid out by Abity. Anchored by heavy beat and ticking percussive groove, subtle guitar riffs and string phrasings complement each other in unhindered fashion before delicate organic house elements weave a magical path post-breakdown.

The final remixer is a Proton Music regular who has also found his work featured for such blue-chip imprints as Hoomidaas, Where The Heart Is, Harabe and his own Truesounds Music. Peter Makto's "Purple Rain" EP with Gregory S was a Proton highlight in September 2018 as the Hungarian producer now debuts on Particles with a typically innovative reworking of "Move" that strips away the melodic layers to reveal a newly cadenced arpeggio that flourishes amongst deep kick and ticking hi-hats. An emerging synth line adds to the collage as elements from Abity's original filter into the breakdown. The second half continues the rhythmic arp and complementary phrasing of earlier movements in an impressive Peter Makto remix.

A triptych of original tracks combined with a trio of stunning remixes finds Abity creating some wonderful sonic "Memories".
