Born in the Faroe Islands, Eivør’s early musical forays were steeped in Faroese musical traditions. Now residing in Denmark, her music covers a wide musical and emotional range, with themes of love, loss, memory, freedom and nature. She remains a voice unique in its intimacy, its effortless virtuosity and range of colours, evident from her first recording all the way through to her ninth and tenth albums, Bridges and Slør both released in 2015.

Trobar De Morte - The Song Of The Stones

Heavily inspired by Irish music, Anúna's "Jerusalem" and my own choral background I wrote this piece:

The Flowers In The Wind

A flower painted crimson red
like the blood on the snowy dunes
Placed upon your grave in the meadow
Quiet like the flowers in the wind

My true love had fallen in battle
a sword pierced through the heart
and a gunshot heard by his fellows
a bang in the quiet on the fields.

Lilies in the valley - scent sweet
but their smell won't reach me
For my love had fallen in battle
I remain quiet in the wind.

A handkerchief clenched in his hand
as his comrades took him home
they had told me he fought bravely
my true love in the fields.

I looked at his pale blue face,
and the bloodstains on his clothes
I kissed his forehead and said my goodbyes
Quiet like the flowers in the wind.

"Stepan Honc’s guitar work introduces “Benedetta” where he is joined, firstly, by Mr Novotny in working out the melody of this sublime piece. Again, it is Filip Tomanek who is crucial in widening out the sound with his drum work. I assume it is Jakub Strba who is responsible for the spoken word sections in the middle of this track where Pavlina also joins in providing an harmony over the band’s gentle soundtrack. The second section of this track is one of the hardest to appreciate for those who only have the English language to rely on, as the essence of what is being said is somewhat lost. I’m tempted to compare it to the “rebel song” that the Folksmen perform on the “A Mighty Wind” film soundtrack but those folk-Spinal Tap comparisons would be unkind to what is a beautiful and compelling track which may be a little ambitious for an international audience."
