Australian DJ and producer duo Anthony Fade debuts on the young Shall Not Fade sub-label Lost Palms with their ‘What I Need’ EP, featuring the hazy and atmospheric house cut ‘Get With You’.
 
Since emerging last year with their first 12” release on Tomahawk, Anthony Fade are looking to make a splash in 2017. Following a release on House Crime, a sub-label of DJ Haus’ Unknown To The Unknown, they grace yet another sub-label in the form of Shall Not Fade’s Lost Palms with a more dreamy aesthetic to their sound profile. 
 
‘Get With You’ kicks off with dusty percussion littered over tranquil atmospherics as a seductive and flirtatious vocal leads into a hard hitting house beat. Fade’s approach has been to deliver raw anthems and they hold nothing back with their latest offering.
 
Anthony Fade’s ‘What I Need’ EP is set for release on July 14.

Whilst ‘What I Need’ opens with statement, club-ready bass drums, it’s the percussive mids which really take the spotlight. Teased in the intro with flourishes of crunchy claps, they soon emerge in the foreground as a crackling, sharply-articulated pattern driving us along the track. The mellow bassline accompanies a soothing key riff which slowly matures with the track, beneath bouncy vocal punches and later, soft, continuous soulful wailing.

Anthony Fade; seemingly a solo alias however, actually a duo - thus plummeting uninformed listeners self-esteem into the abyss as they utter - “Anthony Fade is good isn’t he” - just for some smart-ass to chime in and say “Erm - it’s actually THEY not HE” - Anyway; the Australian DUO (thank us later) graduate from their last release on sub-label Lost Palms, delivering three outstanding floor-driven cuts (with legend Andrés​ on remix duty!!!) for the 17th release of one of our favourite labels; Shall Not Fade.

First of all, it must be said that the release in it’s entirety is absolutely outstanding -  featuring back to front dancefloor heaters from A1 to B2, which will undoubtedly make it into the record bags of your favourite dj’s and the  onto the floors of your favourite clubs. 

This Premiere features “Creepin’” - patently the moodiest cut of the record, oozing with as much soul and sass of yer Da’s mustard corduroy flares. Acting as a vessel for the dusty, jazz fueled melody, the kick (often a neglected craft in contemporary dance music) stylishly pounds and swings throughout the record, playfully conversing with the potent accompanying raw percussion. This is the post-midnight stomper that prompts fizzing synapses, glinting eyes and nods of approval throughout the room. Hold it close - ‘twas a good night.

The noise echoed in the empty chamber. The room was lined with metallic plates and the sound bounced in expansive chaos as the walls rattled. The light glowed a pale, glistening, medicinal white and the foghorn of a speaker continued to blare the same tune repetitively. Men marched asleep to the sound of a kick which banged and banged. Then all of a sudden there was a change, a melody, a twist of fate within a space which had once been so cold. 

Anthony Fade are an Australian duo with a sense of purpose. Having previously released on Tomahawk, Lost Palms and House Crime they now feature on Shall Not Fade accompanied by a legend in the form of Andres. He steps up to remix "Same Tune".
