Next up in our Premiere series we have Running Back head honcho Gerd Janson remixing Neapolitan producer Partenope, who takes a strong influence from the likes of Underground Resistance, for a deep cut on the Neapolis label. 

Partenope certainly wears a big Underground Resistance influence on his sleeve in the case of 'Odysseia' - it's even mentioned in the press release, and we're not going to argue either.   But it's no bad thing, especially as it's a general love of the soulful, uplifting, musical end of the techno scale rather than a creative plunder of any UR track in particular.  The label has pulled out the big guns with a Gerd Janson remix to accompany it too, and Janson certainly delivers with his warm production bringing out the best via three way acid trance techno hybrid.

PREMIERE: Partenope - Odysseia (Gerd Janson Remix) [Neapolis]

James Bright launches his Life On Earth Recordings imprint in typically sumptuous style, presenting three varied Balearic grooves on the 'Wayfarer EP'. Aiming to provide a soundtrack to a life well- travelled, Life On Earth Recordings is primed to explore the outer reaches of downtempo, electronica, nu-disco and deep house, with a luminous Balearic thread woven deep into its core.  The Mansfield-based artist James Bright, has been in scintillating form, delivering a series of widely adored releases for NuNorthern Soul, Sprechen, Quattro, and Sveva Music. His immaculately-crafted rhythms routinely finding their way into the sets of the most esteemed and cosmically-rooted jocks, while his sound effortlessly floats between and beyond the kaleidoscopic Balearic boundaries.
 
The EP opens with the immersive waves of the title track, where intricate synth layers are carefully intertwined across chords and rolling rhythms, before acid lines and ever-building orchestration rises to a star-gazing climax.  'Hours Were Ours' plays out an enchanting melody, with harmonic layers blissfully assembled over mid-tempo drums, dramatic strings and pulsing synths lifting the introspective mood for a truly absorbing deep-dive.  'Sound Of The Sun' joyously raises the spirits, with summery chords that power delicate synth arpeggios over soul-stirring strings and synth bass. This closing cut is ripe for sundown salutations, and blissed-out finales in captivating settings.
 
Considering the prolificacy of his output, the move into label curation feels like a logical step, providing an uncompromising outlet for his evolving compositions while allowing ample room for musical collaboration. Accomplished, engaging, and beguiling throughout, the 'Wayfarer' EP offers a tantalising taste of what's sure to follow from the Life On Earth stable.

Frankfurt's celebrated producer, Philip Lauer returns to Especial, this time teaming up with Berlin based vocalist Dena for a special collaboration, covering Julie Stapleton's soulful House classic with a modern interpretation across a number of versions (vinyl and digital). 

After the success of the Hotel Lauer EP on Especial way back in 2016, Lauer has continued his ascendency with albums for Permanent Vacation and Running Back, as well as releasing a string of sure-fire, dancefloor friendly EPs for the likes of Cin Cin, Futureboogie and Skatebard's Digitalo Enterprises.

Born and raised in Bulgaria, before making the move the music mecca of Berlin, Denitza Todorova has a carved a path with her electronic, dance pop stylings across releases for the likes of K7 and Kitsune Music. First appearing on Make It Stay from Lauer's last album, it jumped out as the perfect partnership to bring the raw, soulful and uplifting sounds of the cult V4 Visions label up to date. Founded by Alex Palmer, the label was part of the UK's early 90s club sound, releasing street soul, deep house and more, in Where's Your Love Gone, Palmer and 18-year-old writer/vocalist Julie Stapleton hit on the perfect marriage of Lovers Rock and Street Soul yearning with the haunting sounds of US House. Presented as a new take on the classic, but with utmost respect, the EP starts with the Club Mix, a Larry Heard bassline joins a marimba melody, lifting Dena's vocals of youth's lost love and pain. This is followed by the Demo Mix, a warm, beautiful string laden original take that Lauer and the label felt had to be included. 

DJ Slyngshot is welcomed to provide a deep, tech remix. A name to watch via his releases on his YAPPIN label and recent EP for Workshop, his remix is an analogue twist of hypnotic, raw dub techno percussion and counter breaks builds as string and piano join. The EP ends in the Synthapella, as bongos, cowbell and whistle are added to create a drifting Balearic version for late summer nights and dawn that highlight Dena's vocals in a 'sunrise' light.

Hell Yeah takes a look through the weird and wonderful lens of Brussels-based Caramel 3000 for its next dance floor trip. He serves up four cuts that collide leftfield electronics, dark disco and ancient cosmic wonderment into captivating new forms. 

Caramel 3000 operates at the fringes, where eerie textures, irregular arpeggios and silver-tongued samples all coalesce. His interest in visual culture, semiotics and fiction permeates his musical understanding while he also embraces accidental methods and primitive designs when cooking up his sonic brews. 

Opener 'Ottagono Corse' is a lithe, slow-motion workout with gurgling leads and sludgy bass. It's an elastic rhythm that pops and hops as it fixes your gaze down a trippy rabbit hole.
