After a self-imposed hiatus ruminating on the inspirations that drew him to electronic music, Grammy nominated producer and IO Music Academy founder Andy Caldwell is releasing a brand new LP this August 2021.

Genesis marks a new creative era for Andy Caldwell. Rooted in underground house music, and drawing on a multitude of influences, he delivers an infectious collection of tracks that explore and push the boundaries of his sound.

Both ethereal and evocative, lush textures and melodies permeate the record from start to finish. Playful hooks and shimmering synths blend effortlessly over warm bass lines and artful beats — all paired seamlessly with the vocal talents of Satellite Mode, Esmé Bianco (Sinders), ESAE, Ty Glascoe, Lo, and LeDon. Remixes are also forthcoming including Birds of Mind, Clemente and more.

Singles

The first single from the record is ‘Like A Ghost’, which was written with Australian singer/songwriter Woodes and performed by Esmé Bianco, whose haunting vocal melodies wash over warm pads and drifting rhythms.

‘It Was Love’, the second single, began as a remix of Michael Kiwanuka’s ‘Cold Little Heart’. Andy passed the instrumental to Ty Glascoe and New York based MC, LeDon, who wrote the infectious vocal hook that bears the song’s title. Lori Lachien’s vocal overdubs made for a powerful and unique counterplay to the soulful, R&B vibes.

‘Pulling Every String’ began as a jam session in LA at IO Music Academy with Jessica and Alex of Satellite Mode. It took them 6 months sending files back and forth from NY/LA to finally create something special, a tasteful dreamy house cut laced with stunning vocal hooks.

Remixes

Ever since Caldwell heard ‘Here and Now’ he was hooked on Spanish producer Clemente. Clemente’s remix of ‘Like A Ghost’ is a club-ready cut that transforms and elevates the original’s sultry vibe.

It was the Birds of Mind remix of DSF’s ‘Attraction' that originally caught Caldwell’s ear — their use of rich chord progressions and artful arrangements align perfectly with his vibe, and their remix of ‘Pulling Every String’ flawlessly blends their sound with the original’s captivating hooks.

Genesis is set for release August 5, 2021.
