this is a partial recording of my last "gig" at a friend's house party, surrounded by my dears, a breath of fresh air in this shitty year. i forgot to start recording so it starts in the middle of something. this was the first part of an all-nighter i've played for way too many hours bubt i also forgot to record that 90`s miami bass furacão 2000 set that unfortunately will have to remain only in my friend's memory. 

use this for your BAGACERA TIMES, play it in you new year's party, play it with your friends around a pool or play it by yourself while cleaning your home. this is me just having fun around people i love, having way too many things to fuzz the mind, and loving to play these classics to sing along with my crew.

Social Criticism in Lauryn Hill's 'Doo Wop (That Thing)'
Lauryn Hill's song 'Doo Wop (That Thing)' is an empowerment anthem and a sharp social critique, released in 1998 as part of her acclaimed album 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill'. The song addresses themes of self-respect, sexuality and the dangers of being carried away by appearances and materialism.
In the first verse, Hill speaks directly to women, warning them about the dangers of allowing themselves to be used by men who are only interested in 'that thing'. She criticizes the idea that women must conform to standards of beauty and behavior in order to be accepted or loved, mentioning 'hair weaves like Europeans' and 'fake nails done by Koreans' as examples of how women are pressured to conform to external standards. The artist also references religious and historical figures, such as Jezebel, to illustrate the consequences of straying from one's own principles and values.
The second verse is directed at men, criticizing those who prioritize material possessions and status over their responsibilities and relationships. Hill calls out toxic behaviors such as domestic violence and irresponsible fatherhood, and questions how these men can hope to succeed in life if they are not right on the inside. The song ends with a dialogue that reflects on the difference between love and being in love, suggesting that true love goes beyond the surface and accepts a person as they are. playing at a voodoohop party is just cathartic. it may sound strange, but they have changed my life during a very wierd period of my history. i have made friends, fell in love, became interested in producing parties and eventually became a dj because of them. i learned from them everything i know, and they still make me always try and get better. they are my most fundamental source of inspiration. this is my 4th set for voodoohop at heliodora but this one being their 10th anniversary makes it all even more special.  this set was made at my favorite spot there, by the pool, during the day, and the crow was just beautiful and so full of love. i'll never forget this moment <3 

this is the first part of my set and it has got some mistakes and moments where i kinda got lost in the vibe and skiped one or two beats when doing the mashups, but well, i was having the most fun ever. thank you so much and parabéns,  @voodoohop <3

patrícia polayne is not only an amazing singer-songwriter and one of the most important artists from my state - Sergipe, in the northeast of Brazil - but she is also my sister. since i was a kid i knew she would be an amazing artist and i'm proud to be her first fan. and because i'm a fan, i'm always a little scared of using one of her songs and desecrate her incredible music, but i'm also not known for having much sense, so here it is. this is a live-edit made with the vocals and some drums of her unfinished song "a roda" in which i added some effects, percussions, beats and samples from miret and venga venga, spaniol, nana vasconcelos, francis etto and mrux.
