Tesfon is a DJ, producer and connector in Rio de Janeiro, and has been active in the city’s alternative scene for over 10 years. He is the founder of several electronic music projects in the city.

this is my set for the second edition of Baleárica, and woah that was INTENSE! since the party evokes some disco flavors, and this edition was called verano fatale, i decided to go and have my interpretation of those summer madness with some mashups, loops, and samples to summon that discoish vibe with some italo disco, some remixed classics, a cassius oldie banger, but went on adding my new research on indie dance, house, downtempo, some turkish disco i love, and the nonstop layer of percussions and kick samples to fill the room with energy. the floor was lit and i sure had an amazing time during this gig!

it's been some time i've been going to the editions of baile baile and always loved how the dj/producers both make these both refreshing and nostalgic sets, full of the best kitsch energy possible and when i got invited to play there i thought i could try and play so many of those nostalgic beats i've listened to when i was a teenager so i went full on perrengue and just crammed many of those oldies i always loved and never thought i would ever play so many of them in one single set. from bob sinclair to stardust, from basement jaxx to armand van helden, the teen in me watching those videos on mcm felt really good for that, even though this is a set far from my comfortable zone, it is still very much inside my need to always try to be playing something unexpected. thanks a lot for that, baile baile!

Each track in this set represents the emotions I've experienced over the past few months—a time filled with change, self-acceptance and vulnerability. This year has brought some of the most complex personal growth I've ever encountered. 
So, as you listen to this set, feel the energy with the realization that this is what life is all about—constantly discovering and rediscovering ourselves.

It's also made with a lot of love for Voragine, a project of creation of audiovisual projections, a beautiful project also of  mi parcero (my friend) Santi, who is now spending a season in our city, Bogotá. We miss you, Flaco, and thanks for making me part of your project <3
