Produced by new beat hero Kaytranada, "Dance" is unlike anything we've heard from Rome before — a melodic anthem in the grand tradition of dance-my-pain-away jams.

The single is another pleasing curveball from this one-of-a-kind artist, who's equally at home trapping in a jeep with ILoveMakonnen and Rich The Kid on "No Ma'am" as he is guesting on Four Tet tracks and popping up at Boiler Room. 

With his first international tour on deck and the single release (accompanied by a unique app that lets Rome chat direct to fans - and put his blue beard on their own pics!) the future is looking very bright for Rome. Stay tuned for more as he puts his finishing touches on the "Dance" video and his highly-personal Fool's Gold LP, Jerome Raheem Fortune.

Guess what? It's Dilla's bday again and I'm so excited to share with you my 4th edition of what turns out to be an annual tradition. As always, paying a tribute to Dilla is easy and fun but also challenging at the same time, because his music is so inspiring and my musings wake up with the first note being played, but the challenge lies exactly in the same spot: what can I possibly add to such rounded and soulful music? the conclusion is usually similar every single time; just play WITH Dilla, rather than use him. So every year just before this special day, I'm sitting in my room and he is there, showing me this cool drum sound he just sampled or this warm beat, and he's asking me: Lamotta, would you mind recording a verse over that? and so I did. Happy Birthday!

Erik Sumo is one of the most established Hungarian music producers of the last 20 years. His various acts gained national and international, underground and mainstream success, he scored movies - think of the now cult Liza, The Fox Fairy soundtrack on one of our early 7”-s. His latest album, ‘Mount Fuji’ came out in November 2019, it contains ‘Run Into The Wild’, an odd, yet catchy leftfield floor killer with an unmistakable mood built of sinister imaginings from the woods around Fujisan and glamorous disco vibes. On this his EP you can hear the previously unreleased disco dub version of the song and 3 remixes bringing the original to completely different directions. Mytron & Ofofo of Multi Culti and Les Yeux Orange fame chose to go the tribal way by adding some extra percussion and reconstructing the chorus making the track even more dance floor friendly than it was originally. Oakland based producer E. Live turned the tune into a contemporary boogie burner, while Budabeats staple M.W.D.’s version has an atmosphere that is impossible to describe.

Rooted in the funk-soul legacy  of the 70's, with a nod to contemporary beat-tapes, Perrin's sound is a balancing act, floating effortlessly between underground and mainstream. Simplistic, modern electronics go hand-in-hand with warm analogue synths, broken beats and the emphatic sound of Perrin's voice, this is heartfelt soul music for the here-and-now.
