After meeting his mentor, Chris Lake, Noizu released one hit after another; from “LFO” and “Wavey” to his remix of DJ Snake’s “A Different Way,” and singles like “Summer 91 (Looking Back)” and “Dancing In The Dark.” In this exclusive interview, Noizu spoke about making it in the American dance music scene, his production, Techne label and upcoming Las Vegas residency, and the role that SoundCloud has played throughout his career.

Great Stuff all-star Mike Vale is an important part of the global dance music circuit for years and always delivers the goods in perfect style, and he does so once again here with his heartfelt take on “Lucky Star” that merges flammable beats with tense low frequencies and cosmic sounds.

Originally from Haarlem in the Netherlands, globetrotting from London to Dubai to Barcelona and now living in Ibiza since 2012, Martijn ten Velden has long established himself as a leading DJ/producer on an international level. His version of “Lucky Star” is wonderfully reminding us of the original’s bliss and melodies. It feels colourful, organic yet extremely fresh.

It's obvious that Allen has a long background in making this kind of music, it’s clean and catchy without ever sounding over-produced. You can hear his Memphis roots and the influences of some of Soul and R&B’s greatest musicians. One example, early in his career under the wings of master producer “Papa” Willie Mitchell and Stax hit writer David Porter (of “Soul Man” fame), Allen sharpened his song writing and production skills and later became an artist / writer and arranger for both Stax Records, and the legendary Hi Records where he worked for many years with Mitchell and soul legend Al Green during their chart topping careers. The style and personality reflected in these tracks is very refreshing. A unique mix of groove, arrangement and melody, a breath of fresh air .. worth adding to your playlist.      Maxine B.
