Wrote this for Jill's birthday this year. I said audio soon to come back in January, so it's about time! It's an easy loping swing tune in "2", a nod to Horace Silver's "Strollin'". I really hope you hear the love and appreciation for our life together that I felt when writing it.

Track 1 - Thank God It's Friday

This is a recording we did at San Jose State University on 7/31/12 in room 150.  Thanks to John Shifflett for booking the room for us and to Jemal Ramirez for putting it all together.

Ben Torres: Sax
Sam Grobe-Heinz: Piano
John Shifflett: Bass

Recorded live to Apple's Garage band.  Piano and drums were each mic'ed with Audio Technica AT2020's.  Sax used a Shure Beta 98 clip on.  Bass had a regular Shure SM58 put right in front of the bass cabinet.  Everything was mixed and rendered in Apple's GarageBand.

"Sugar" by Stanley Turrentine, Vic DeMartini Trio.  Danny Spencer (dr) Glen Richardson (bs) Vic Schrader (gtr).  Recorded live to stereo using matched pair of Octava MC012 mics in an x/y configuration.  No EQ or other post-processing applied to the recording, other than limiting applied to the highest peaks.  Vic is playing a 1954 Epiphone Zephyr with T-I flatwound strings.
