@garneaumusic reached out to me with these tracks off the back of Max Ulis’ release. Like Max, he’s also a Quebecquer who moved out west. Like myself, Nick is fluent in three languages: English, French and Chunky Techno. Here’s an obvious secret; the latter is a prerequisite to be signed to the label. Releasing these tracks on EARUHAVEIT is a no-brainer for me; “Lost” and “Serve” are tough, reliable stompers that get the job done, while the lush pads on “Feelings” balance out the EP with bittersweet emotional feels.

New Wave Podcast 046: DJ Manu C

Although having perfected her craft as a DJ years ago, Manu C found her home in the ghetto and electro community over the recent lockdown, emerging as one of the hottest young artists in the scene. With a natural ear for music, her sound has took various pit stops during her time as a DJ, however her recent rise was due to the plethora of knee-jerking and high voltage mixes released over the past year. Her bubbly and expressive personality is certainly portrayed into her mixes where she is able to express herself whilst creating a deep musical narrative.

Her prowess behind the decks has never been in question, featuring regularly in the local scene, but she admits that she does not have the freedom to fully convey her true vision as an artist due to the lack of support for ghetto and electro music. Residing in Buenos Aires and playing this style of music, does have it's limitations, due to the scene being heavily commercialised. However with a move to Europe planned for the future, her future is very bright. She has already made several links with labels and parties; including Former City Records and Sound Transitions.

We recently caught up with Manu to discuss her lockdown life, clubs opening during lockdown in Argentina, the Argetinian festival scene and nerves when DJing in front of a crowd.

An integral part of the Meanjin electronic scene, her sets have seen us dancing the night away over many years to some truly high quality and energetic selections. You might recognise him from the legendary Leeds function, 'Distrikt', where he resides as their in-house events planner. In addition to this Mezla also add's the holy trinity of titles to his name as an avid DJ, Producer and Promoter. Co-founding popular Leeds based club night Limit, which as of recent, just celebrated their 5th year in the scene.
