What happens in the shadow of departing from one of the industry’s biggest record labels after a slew of big hits? In the case of Kevin McHugh, you go on to start two highly credible record labels and a small handful of equally impressive aliases. As Dustin can attest, pulling off something like this is no walk in the park. Together, they have an in-depth conversation about living up to these past hits, being type-casted, and life after Minus. The jokes may be less prevalent on this episode, but the chat is a rare look into mindsets of a couple guys whose diverse musical tastes fuel the desire to be more than just a ‘techno DJ’. As the kids say, #realtalk. They still say that, right?

In addition to recently starting “Valence” with a focus on peak-time techno, Ambivalent went on to release records for “Cocoon,” “Sasha’s LNOE” and “Sian’s Octopus Recordings”. He also moonlights in house territory with his Amber project on “Mobilee”. On the “selector” side of the fence, he started the highly credible record label called “Delft,” which features the likes of Matrixxman and his own new acid-tinged LA-4A material.

Ian Pooley, alongside other nu school German artists such as Mousse T., Boris Dlugosch and partner in crime, DJ Tonka, has been swapping the traditional hard trance/techno sounds typical of some German clubs for the funky and sublime sounds imported from America, to great effect.
Pooley has been bridging the gap between techno and house, creating tracks such as the massive 'Celtic Cross' and 'Chord Memory' on the Force Inc. Music Works, as well as recording more housier and disco orientated workouts for labels such as John Acquaviva's Definitive Recordings, Effective Records and NRK Sound Division. Ian has also remixed for Daft Punk, The Cardigans, The Beloved, Green Velvet, Modjo, Nick Holder and many more.

By refusing to pigeonhole his sound, Pooley records have graced the record boxes of DJs as diverse as Dave Clarke, Justin Robertson, Dave Angel, Judge Jules and Terry Farley. Recently, Ian recorded two albums for V2 Records, Inc.; "Meridian" was a classic Pooley album, choc full of tech-house and including the "What's Your Number" as remixed by Jazzanova and Bob Sinclar. Ian released his second LP for V2 in 2000; 'Since Then' saw Ian move in a more housier, latin direction and spawned the hit single '900 Degrees'.

Par Grindvik & Peder Mannerfelt join Dustin on this episode of Train Wrecks. Both originally hail from Stockholm while Par currently resides in Berlin. The two friends have released an EP entitled "Corded" together on Grindvik's Stockholm LTD, but have worked closely together on a number of projects in the past.

In this episode, Par explains his inspiration for his current iteration of his straight-forward techno sound, the concept behind last year's debut album, and he also solves the age old question "Where the hell is Hardcell?" Peder touches down on coming from more of an experimental background and recent albums of his over the past handful of years, including one particular 'cover album' that attempts to take on an African Congo record from the 1920s. He's also one half of Roll the Dice and works closely with Fever Ray.

Outside of Belgrade, Tijana T is best known as DJ who rides the line between house and techno. She's affiliated with Dystopian, which is also the home of acts like Rodhad and Recondite. Her story began more than 10 years ago as a vocalist and live accompaniment for Abe Duque. She also discusses her history as an accomplished journalist who was vital to the rise of Belgrade's electronic music scene.

Anthony Parasole returns to Train Wrecks! 2017 was a big year for the Brooklyn-based DJ/producer. He released an EP on Joseph Capriati’s label, an album for Dekmantel, and plotted a world-tour to support it. He also relaunched his label “The Corner” and still maintains a residency at Berghain and Output.
