Petal Rose is a NY-native, Brooklyn-based producer, DJ, and organizer attempting to nurture the community’s heartbeat. Raised by God-fearing Guyanese immigrants, music was never taken seriously unless it was in the context of the church. By playing in symphony, they love to meld footwork, club, and techno to create a unique drum-focused melodic vibe. They’ve graced the stage all around NYC, including Le Bain, 3 Dollar Bill, The Lot Radio, and Mood Ring. 


Notes on the Mix ///

"For most of my best mixes, they’ve always come after significant personal events (i.e., romantic or platonic breakup). This summer has been kind to me, so I decided to try something different for this mix. Instead of turning lemons into lemonade, I made toast from freshly baked bread. I recorded this sonic collage after a multi-day bender during which I felt the happiest I’ve been in years.

Like the bender itself, the mix begins hopeful, moves into a playful, extremely horny vibe, gets a bit raucous, but then ends on a blissful note. Staying mindful and practicing gratitude have brought me so far in this stage of my life, and this mix reflects that journey. I hope I never forget all of these moments, relationships, and feelings, both good and bad. That’s mainly why I made this mix hahaha.

I’d recommend listening to this during a long commute or a workout. It’s got just the right amount of groove and variety for everyone, but the real yearners will appreciate it most. Please enjoy these romance-induced sonic aftershocks.

Petal, a rising starlet in the Brooklyn electronic music scene, presents RECEIVING MY FLOWERS, her debut album exploring the journey of learning to love oneself. Raised in the real-life version of Snobby Shores (Long Island), the Brooklyn-based producer, DJ, and organizer is dedicated to improving the status of “Little New Jersey.”

Since 2023, Petal has made waves by performing at venues such as The Lot Radio, Le Bain, and Nowadays, and she’s just getting started. Petal enjoys producing and mixing music in the same way she lives her life, by blending ideas that don’t normally go together. When asked about how she got her start, she always uses the same line:

“Music was my first love, and sharing music was my second love.”

RECEIVING MY FLOWERS is Petal’s most ambitious project to date, spanning genres and moods. It weaves together footwork, techno, jungle, and ambient music, occasionally accented with playful vocals.
