A recent field recording that I did. Contains sounds of various small birds, a common buzzard (Buteo buteo), lots of wind and creaky trees. Temperate European mixed forest.

The sounds of a pine tree recorded with a contact microphone. Lots of low frequency content so best enjoyed with good headphones. 
I am pretty sure that the low droning sound most evident in the second half of the recording is not caused by the wind but is actually the  vibration of the tree trunk acting as an antenna and capturing the sound of an aeroplane passing by. Is that possible, what do you think?
Another interesting thing is that even if the sound is captured with a single microphone it still represents some sense of space and size - some sounds appear to be close, some - farther away. Is this due to the internal acoustics of the tree trunk or it's just that the higher frequencies naturally appear closer, probably both, right?

At the end of April this year, during a walk in Vitosha mountain, I came across one place in the forest where I was not well received. Initially, I noticed a group of deer who didn't pay much attention to me. This encouraged me to carefully approach them. Then I apparently entered the territory of a common buzzard, who was noticeably irritated by my presence. Maybe his nest was nearby - I didn't see it, but from his behaviour I was left with such a feeling, then the deer started barking too and I had to acknowledge that I was not welcome. In the meantime, I recorded a few minutes from the bustle that I caused.

One of the best singers amongst the birds around here is the common blackbird - Turdus merula. It's song is melodic, gentle and for me - a key to memories of quiet spring days filled with peace and delight.
Technically it's challenging to record in the suburbs where i live due to the constant noise pollution and at the same time away from the city and further up on the mountain where there is less human noise this species is not present.

Vitosha National Park in Bulgaria. The weather this day was gorgeous! Bright sun, blue sky, crisp, cold air. On the branches of the trees there were snow and ice crystals. The temperature was below freezing, but the sun is already strong in February and it was melting the snow from the branches causing it to fall on the ground with a magical sound and a very thin fog from the evaporating water to form between the trees.

What you hear in this track are the very high pitched and ultrasonic parts of the crickets songs slowed down and brought into the audible spectrum. Originally these frequencies were mostly between 20 and 40 kHz, well beyond our normal hearing range. 
The result sounds quite unusual, a bit creepy and extraterrestrial but also very cool. It doesn't sound like crickets anymore, more like dinosaurs, I imagine... or a gang of drunk roosters... LOL

This track contains a recording of the echolocation sounds of some of the 13 native to Vitosha mountain species of bats. The original frequency of the sounds on this recording was at about 40 kHz. They were pitched down in order to make them audible for us. I tried to do the pitching down in a way that preserves the original character of the sound the best, but it's not possible to preserve it entirely, the original sounds are even pluckier and more well defined. 
Observing different recordings I noticed that the bats are using sounds in a very broad frequency spectrum - some were as low as 18 kHz, others were as high as 60 kHz. Very fascinating creatures! Enjoy the clicks!
