Symbiosis (from Greek συμβίωσις, symbíōsis, "living together", from σύν, sýn, "together", and βίωσις, bíōsis, "living") is any type of a close and long-term biological interaction between two different biological organisms, be it mutualistic, commensalistic, or parasitic. 

The organisms, each termed a symbiont, must be of different species. 

Symbiosis can be obligatory, which means that one or more of the symbiosis depend on each other for survival, or facultative (optional), when they can generally live independently.

Symbiosis is also classified by physical attachment. When symbionts form a single body it is called conjunctive symbiosis, while all other arrangements are called disjunctive symbiosis.

 When one organism lives on the surface of another, such as head lice on humans, it is called ectosymbiosis; when one partner lives inside the tissues of another, such as Symbiodinium within coral, it is termed endosymbiosis.

She has been commissioned to compose for film (As She Is, PBS American Masters – Dorothea Lange: Grab a Hunk of Lightning, Big Joy: The Adventures of James Broughton, Queen of the Sun: What are the bees telling us?, Climb Against the Odds, Jews and Buddhism: Belief Amended, Faith Revealed, Hope is the Thing with Feathers) theatre (Orpheus, TS Crossing), dance (The Equus Projects, Llory Wilson and Tallulah Dance Co, Jeff Bickford, Facing East Dance Co.) and her compositions have been used in the popular video game – Braid. This sometimes ethereal, sometimes hard-edged, musician has earned rave reviews throughout Europe, Asia, and North America, having been an invited guest artist in China, Russia, the Balkans, Italy, France, and Thailand. 

Sieber now stands fully in her own genre-defying musical style and while investigating Jami’s recordings you will be captured by her creativity and imagination as a writer, lyricist and instrumentalist. Each recording is a sonic journey exploring the breadth and magic of the acoustic and electric cellos, with compositions that will open the heart, defy the mind, and, at times, inspire body and spirit to dance. Jami’s independently produced recordings include: ‘Dorothea Lange: Grab a Hunk of Lightning’ (2017), ‘Big Joy: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’ (2014), ‘Timeless’ (2013), ‘Unspoken: The Music of Only Breath’ (2008), ‘Only Breath’ (2007), 'Hidden Sky' (2004), ‘Second Sight’(1998), and ‘Lush Mechanique’ (1994). Round The World - 03 - Trance'N'dance

Internationally-acclaimed for his Western interpretations of northern India's classical music, Stevin McNamara offers you this entrancing journey called Prana Groove. His signature acoustic stylings flow freely on a current of meditative percussion. A great addition to your yoga or bodywork playlist!

Prana = the Sanskrit word for basic primal vital energy which sustains and energizes the body. It moves through the breath.
Groove = rhythmic patterns which motivate the body to move.

The melodic element of Prana Groove is based on Rag Malkauns – a profound raga which is to be played late at night (usually midnight) – based on a pentatonic (5 note) scale. The large intervals between the notes create an intense emotional effect on the listener.

The tempo is 108 beats per minute, chosen for it's sacred Sanskrit value and effect. There are 108 different yet interwoven musical phrases presented throughout the piece.

"I created this music as an adventure into the realm of energy and movement," Stevin McNamara explains. "I used the ancient musical form of raga coupled with pulse and drum patterns found in trance and other traditions, such as Sufi Dervish ecstatic dance. I offer it as a celebration of life, of our connection to the earth and all living beings."
